- Thanks to the persistent mobilization of the grassroots population team, in the first 9 months of 2025, Hung Vu commune recorded a sex ratio at birth of 100 boys/100 girls, maintaining gender balance at a natural level.

Currently, Hung Vu has 2,500 households with nearly 1,940 couples of childbearing age. Of which, 62 couples have given birth to 2 children and 21 couples have only one child. In 2024, the sex ratio at birth of Hung Vu commune is 109 boys/100 girls, higher than the natural balance (about 105-107 boys/100 girls). To overcome this situation, the Commune Health Station has implemented a series of specific solutions, focusing on propaganda in many forms to change the mindset of "must have a son to continue the family line". From integrating into village meetings, union activities; integrating into vaccination sessions, health check-ups at the health station to visiting each family.
In particular, the propaganda is carried out through real stories and real events so that people can easily understand and absorb. From the beginning of 2025 until now, the Commune Health Station has integrated 33 propaganda sessions into vaccination and pregnancy check-ups, attracting nearly 1,500 participants; population officers have gone to each household to propagate to more than 500 families. Thanks to the method of "going to every alley, knocking on every door", people have been explained, listened to and gradually changed their concepts.
Ms. Hoang Thi Huyen, a population officer in Hung Vu commune, said: In the past, many families only wanted to have a son to continue the family line. We chose to promote the message through real examples, such as families who gave birth to daughters but had happy lives, obedient children, and good students. When people saw that right in their neighborhood, they gradually changed their concept, understanding that having healthy children and raising them well is the important thing.
The story of Ms. Duong Thi Hien in Nong Luc village is proof. She has two daughters, one in grade 11, one in kindergarten, but she and her husband are completely satisfied. Ms. Hien shared: Before, my husband also wanted to have a son. After the population officer came to persuade and explain, we saw that every child is a child. Now we just want to raise our two daughters well, no longer focusing on boys or girls.
The changes in propaganda have created a clear change in behavior. From the beginning of 2025 until now, the whole commune has 82 newborns, including 41 boys and 41 girls, the sex ratio at birth is 100 boys/100 girls. From these specific numbers, it can be seen that the population work in Hung Vu does not stop at slogans but has entered life.
Ms. Hoang Thi Nhin, Deputy Head of the Population Department, Bac Son Regional Health Center, commented: The population officers in Hung Vu work very responsibly. They have a firm grasp of each household and each woman of childbearing age. They tell familiar stories that make people believe. Maintaining the 100/100 ratio this year is the result of a persistent process.
In order for the results to not be temporary, in the coming time, Hung Vu Commune Health Station will continue to advise the Party Committee and government, coordinate with mass organizations to strengthen propaganda, mobilize, maintain "natural gender balance" right from pregnancy, consider having 2 children, raising children well as the standard of a happy, civilized family.
