Heavy rain and flooding are besieging the Central region and experts explain the cause of this exceptionally heavy rain.
Mr. Mai Van Khiem, Director of the Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, said that due to the combination of low-level cold air, the tropical convergence zone rising from the South, plus the humid easterly wind field operating from 1,500 - 5,000m, this is one of the typical heavy rain patterns in the Central region. exceptionally heavy rain prolonged by this weather combination.
It is forecasted that in the next 2 days, the cold air complex, tropical convergence zone, and easterly winds will still be active. Therefore, from now until the end of October 29, from South Quang Tri to Da Nang City and the East of Quang Ngai Province, there will be heavy to very heavy rain, with rainfall in South Quang Tri and the East of Quang Ngai Province ranging from 200-400mm, locally over 700mm, Hue City and Da Nang City ranging from 300-500mm, in some places over 800mm.
From Ha Tinh to Northern Quang Tri, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, rainfall 100-200mm, locally very heavy rain over 350mm.

From the night of October 30, heavy rain tends to decrease in the South and gradually move to the North of the Central region.
According to Mr. Khiem, from now until the end of 2025, there will be about 2-3 storms/tropical depressions operating in the East Sea and about 1-2 storms affecting our country.
From now until about the first half of December 2025, moderate rains, heavy rain may continue to appear in the Central region, concentrated in the area from Ha Tinh to Da Nang, Khanh Hoa and the eastern provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak.
In November 2025, total rainfall in most regions across the country will be 10-30% higher than the average of many years, and higher in some places, of which the North will be at approximately the same level, except for the Northern mountainous region which tends to be 10-20% deficient.
In December 2025, compared to the average of many years in the same period, the total rainfall in the provinces from Quang Tri to Da Nang and the eastern region from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak is generally from 250-580mm, 50-150mm higher; the North and Thanh Hoa - Ha Tinh provinces are generally 15-40mm, of which Ha Tinh is 80-150mm, 5-10mm less. In other areas, the total rainfall is generally 40-80mm, 10-40mm higher.
