In Hue City: On the night of October 27, almost all the roads in the city center were still submerged in water. The water level of the Huong River and Bo River rose above the alarm level 3, breaking the records of the two historic floods in 2020 and 2023, and even the great flood in 1999.

The rain submerged many houses and hospitals in Hue City, many people posted messages on social media asking for help. The police and military also deployed maximum forces and vehicles to move to deeply flooded areas to help people in distress.

Traffic Police of Hue City Police coordinated with the city's Military Command and functional units to bring nearly 40 patients and elderly people from flooded areas at a rehabilitation hospital located on To Hien Thanh Street and deep flooded areas of Phu Xuan Ward (Hue City) to safety.

At Hue Central Hospital, floodwaters flooded many departments and rooms on the first floor such as the Tropical Diseases Department, Dermatology Department, Pulmonary Diseases Department, Stroke - Neurology Center, Dentistry Department and the first floor area of the Cardiovascular Center.

Since the afternoon of October 27, doctors, nurses and medical staff at the Central Hospital have proactively moved patients from the first floor departments to the second floor to ensure safety and avoid flooding. At the same time, medical equipment and machinery have been placed higher or moved to a dry place. However, due to the large number of patients that need to be moved and the large amount of equipment and supplies, the hospital's on-site forces cannot move in time. In the picture, a doctor is moving a patient "over the flood" to a treatment room at a higher location.

Hue City Police sent many officers and soldiers to Hue Central Hospital to assist doctors and nurses in moving patients and medical supplies to different floors to ensure safety and continuity in treatment.

Hue City Police and doctors at Hue Central Hospital worked through the night to bring seriously ill patients to a safe, high place for treatment.

In Da Nang : On the evening of October 27, the water level in the rivers continued to rise. Many villages in Thuong Duc commune (the flood center in Da Nang) were submerged in water, isolating 2,120 households with about 4,300 people.

In Hoi An ward (Da Nang city), the Hoai river was flooded more than 2 meters. During the day, the government and functional forces evacuated people and organized the evacuation of tourists from the dangerous area.

Dai Loc Commune Police (Da Nang City) said that the commune currently has 7 deeply flooded, isolated and dangerous spots. The commune police deployed forces to block off, set up barriers, warning signs, and reflective tape.

Heavy rain damaged the Ong Dung suspension bridge (Tra Giap commune, Da Nang city), at risk of being swept away by floodwaters.

In Quang Ngai: Prolonged heavy rains caused landslides, cutting off many vital routes leading to the center of Dak Plo commune. The authorities had to put up ropes and warning signs in flooded and dangerous landslide areas to ensure absolute safety for the people. The landslides isolated 449 households with about 1,500 people in the villages of Dak Book, Peng Lang, Bung Ton, and Bung Koong.
Rain in Hue exceeds historical levels Mr. Mai Van Khiem - Director of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that on the afternoon of October 27, the water level on the Bo River at Phu Oc station (Hue City) reached 5.25m, exceeding the historical value in 2020 (5.24m). Notably, the total rainfall at Nam Dong station (Hue) from 7:00 p.m. on October 26 to 7:00 p.m. on October 27 reached 1085.8mm. Meanwhile, the highest rainfall in one day in Nam Dong (Hue) from 1976 to 2024 was 927.3mm, occurring on November 11, 2007; in the center of Hue city, it was 977.6mm occurring on November 3, 1999 and A Luoi 758.1mm occurring on November 2, 1999. Thus, this rain in Hue exceeded historical milestones and has never been recorded in Vietnam. The reason is due to the combination of low-level cold air, tropical convergence zone rising from the South, plus the humid East wind field operating from 1500-5000m. It is forecasted that in the next two days, the cold air mass, tropical convergence zone, and easterly winds will still be active. Therefore, from the evening of October 27 to the end of October 29, in the area from South Quang Tri to Da Nang City and the East of Quang Ngai province, there will be heavy to very heavy rain. | |
