Towards building and promoting the financial technology ecosystem in Vietnam's international financial center

(HTV) - The Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Development Studies held a seminar to consult on building and promoting the development of the financial technology ecosystem - Fintech, an important component in the formation of an international financial center in Ho Chi Minh City.

Ho Chi Minh City is currently ranked 95th, up 3 places from the beginning of the year and surpassing Bangkok for the first time. This is considered a positive signal, affirming the city's clear progress in the process of building and developing a regional financial center.

Along with that, the formation and expansion of the Fintech ecosystem with fields such as digital payment, online lending, digital investment, digital currency and digital insurance is expected to create a solid foundation to help Ho Chi Minh City attract more international investment capital, promote innovation, and promote the application of digital finance according to global standards, aiming to become the leading financial center in Southeast Asia in the near future.

Businesses believe that to realize the goal of building an international financial center, Ho Chi Minh City needs to focus on perfecting a synchronous legal framework, creating favorable conditions for the operation of digital financial models and innovation. In addition, the city should promote public-private cooperation, invest heavily in training financial and technological human resources, and build a dynamic Fintech and Web3 community, acting as a bridge between businesses, investors and management agencies.

These proposals are considered an important foundation for the city to implement a policy testing mechanism for the Fintech sector, thereby creating a flexible, transparent and practical testing environment. This is also a strategic step to concretize Resolution 222 of the National Assembly and Resolution 05 of the Politburo on digital economic development, digital finance and innovation, contributing to making Ho Chi Minh City a dynamic, transparent and sustainable international financial center in the region.
