It has become a tradition that at the end of April and the beginning of May every year, trade unions at all levels in the province organize and coordinate many diverse activities for workers. Activities are organized enthusiastically from the provincial level to the grassroots level such as: commendation, reward; organizing union meals, art and sports competitions; implementing training on labor safety; diverse welfare activities...
Ms. Be Thi Hoa, Chairwoman of the Provincial Federation of Labor (FFL) said: Not only focusing on workers' month, representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members is a key task that union levels pay attention to and carry out regularly and continuously. Especially for union members who are workers outside the state sector, taking care of their lives, spirit or each policy is taken care of by each union official with all their heart and responsibility.
In the context of a volatile market, grassroots trade unions, especially those in non-state enterprises, have promoted their role as representatives of workers. For example, in 2024, 68 grassroots trade unions signed collective labor agreements with the content of supporting shift meals with 2,674 workers enjoying shift meals at a guaranteed level of VND 22,000/meal or more; 10 units negotiated to increase the value of shift meals (achieving 100% of the target assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor).
Ms. Nguyen Thu Ha, Director of Tam Duc LS Company Limited, Van Lang District, said: Over the years, the company's Trade Union has always played the role of a "bridge" to help the company's leaders grasp the thoughts and aspirations of employees. The Trade Union also actively coordinates and discusses with the Board of Directors in activities related to the rights of employees. For example, in addition to adjusting the shift meal allowance in a timely manner according to the basic salary (about 25,000 VND/meal/person), we also supplement milk between shifts for employees and increase the support level for long-term employees. All are specifically stipulated in the collective labor agreement signed annually.
At the same time, through grasping the thoughts and aspirations of workers, from 2022 to present, trade unions at all levels have coordinated with business owners to organize more than 600 periodic and ad hoc dialogues at the workplace.
In addition, the care for workers is also carried out by trade unions at all levels through many practical activities such as visiting and giving gifts on holidays and Tet or to union members in difficult circumstances, illness, etc. During the Lunar New Year alone from 2022 to present, the whole province has over 81,000 union members and workers (including many union members who are workers in enterprises) who have been visited and given gifts by trade unions at all levels with a total value of nearly 42 billion VND (including cash and in kind).
Mr. Phung Van Duy, a member of the Trade Union of SONGLEES Lang Son Company Limited, Loc Binh District, said: Since the company established the trade union organization (in 2024), I have regularly received attention, visits, and gifts on holidays and Tet from the trade union organization. That is a source of spiritual encouragement that helps me to be more steadfast in striving to work and produce and improve in life.
From the above practical care activities, the trade union organization has increasingly become a solid support for workers to place their trust. From 2022 to 2024, the number of trade union members has continuously increased, from 41,256 in 2022 to 45,164 in 2024. Of which, trade union members in non-state enterprises increased from 5,366 to 6,237.
Through practical and meaningful care activities, provincial trade unions at all levels have been supporting workers to feel more secure and steadfast on their journey of labor, creativity and dedication. In 2025, Workers' Month will continue to be implemented by trade unions at all levels in the province with the theme "Vietnamese workers take the lead in entering a new era". In particular, focusing on emphasizing the pioneering role of the working class in the new period.
According to the plan of the Provincial Federation of Labor, this year's activities are organized in conjunction with the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Hygiene and major events such as the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, the 139th anniversary of International Labor Day and the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday. In particular, the simultaneous launching of activities in response to the Workers' Month and the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Hygiene will take place on May 10, 2025 throughout the province.
