Mu Cang Chai district unexpectedly rewards doctor who delivered baby on the roadside

In recent days, the story of the doctor in the mountainous region of Mù Cang Chải who delivered a baby right on the national highway has received widespread attention from the community.

Upon receiving information about the incident, on the morning of August 20th, in Nam Khat commune, Mu Cang Chai district, the district leaders met with and commended Dr. Giang A Vinh, who had directly assisted the pregnant woman in giving birth on the roadside, presenting him with a certificate of merit from the District People's Committee.

At the meeting, Ms. Luong Thi Xuyen, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee, extended her congratulations to Doctor Giang A Vinh. She also expressed her hope that Doctor Vinh would continue to uphold his medical ethics to successfully fulfill his duties in providing healthcare to the people in his area of ​​work.

Actively participate in training to improve professional skills and expertise in order to effectively carry out healthcare tasks at the Nậm Khắt commune health station in particular and the entire district in general.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online on the morning of August 20th, immediately after receiving an unexpected commendation from the District People's Committee, Doctor Vinh expressed his surprise that his small act had been recognized by everyone.

Doctor Vinh humbly said, "My work is truly insignificant; many doctors have made far greater sacrifices and contributions. With the recognition from the district leaders, I will continue to strive to provide healthcare for the people here."

As Tuoi Tre Online previously reported, on the morning of August 17, a pregnant woman in Nam Khat commune (Mu Cang Chai district) was on her way to the district's medical center to give birth, but along the way she experienced severe abdominal pain and had to stop her vehicle by the roadside.

Fortunately, the family encountered Dr. Giàng A Vinh, who was driving in the opposite direction and saw them. The doctor stopped his car and helped the woman successfully give birth.

The couple are Giàng A Vàng, born in 2002, and his wife, Chang Thị May, born in 2003.

The newborn is a baby boy, weighing approximately 2.8 kg. Currently, both the baby and the mother are in good health.

Doctor Vinh added that in the mountainous region of Mu Cang Chai, childbirth on the road is not uncommon. A few years ago, he assisted in a delivery, but luckily it was in a car. This time, assisting with a delivery right on the road made him quite worried about safety.

"However, due to the urgent situation, I could not do otherwise. In the highlands, many people do not have much knowledge about maternity care.

"Like this pregnant woman, even though she lives in the area where I work, she had never had an ultrasound, vaccinations, or prenatal check-ups at the commune health station. Because of this, she didn't know her due date, leading to her giving birth right on the road," Dr. Vinh explained.
