The opening act of Vietnam's karate "gold medal shower" was the outstanding performance of Hoang Thi My Tam in the women's 61kg Kumite final. Facing Thai fighter Maneevan amidst enthusiastic cheers, My Tam faced considerable pressure as her opponent scored first. However, with her unwavering composure and inherent confidence, the Vietnamese female fighter quickly regained control, scoring two consecutive points to take a 2-1 lead.

From that point on, My Tam completely controlled the match. She proactively increased the pace, continuously launching sharp attacks while maintaining a solid defense, leaving the Thai fighter with few opportunities for effective counterattacks. Ultimately, Hoang Thi My Tam won overwhelmingly with a score of 11-2, bringing home the first gold medal for the Vietnamese karate team on December 13th.

Continuing his momentum, in the men's 84kg Kumite final, Nguyen Thanh Truong faced off against Indonesian fighter Arif. Despite falling behind initially, Thanh Truong remained calm, demonstrating his experience and skill as he gradually took control of the match. He scored four consecutive points to take a 4-1 lead, securing a crucial advantage for the remainder of the fight.

Notably, during the competition, Thanh Truong experienced leg problems and suffered noticeable pain. However, the Vietnamese fighter still competed with great resilience, maintaining a tight defense and not giving his opponent any opportunity to close the gap. With his composure and courageous fighting spirit, Nguyen Thanh Truong successfully maintained the 4-1 score, thereby bringing home the second gold medal for Vietnamese karate on this day.

But the joy didn't stop there; it continued when Dinh Thi Huong completed a "hat-trick" of gold medals for Vietnamese karate with a victory in the women's under-68kg Kumite final. Facing an Indonesian opponent, Dinh Thi Huong entered the match with confidence, displaying a flexible, proactive, and highly tactical fighting style. She constantly moved, chose the right moments to strike, and maintained good control of her distance.

The match was closely contested for most of the time, but with decisive action at crucial moments, Dinh Thi Huong ultimately won with a score of 8-5, thus bringing home the third consecutive gold medal for Vietnamese karate on December 13th.

On this particular day of competition, the Vietnamese karate team reached four finals in the Kumite event, winning three gold medals and one silver medal. This impressive achievement not only reflects thorough preparation in terms of technical skills, physical fitness, and tactics, but also demonstrates the depth of their squad and the unwavering competitive spirit of Vietnamese martial artists against strong opponents in Southeast Asia.
