Infrastructure connectivity, urban development

Sustainable urban development requires the assurance of infrastructure connectivity. In recent times, thanks to the investment in upgrading and newly building urban infrastructure, major urban areas of Binh Dinh province such as Quy Nhon, An Nhon, and Hoai Nhon have become more spacious, keeping pace with development, and creating inter-regional connectivity.

Synchronous investment

In 2019, the coastal route DT 639 from Lai Giang bridge to Thien Chanh bridge passing through Hoai Huong, Hoai Thanh, Tam Quan Nam, Tam Quan Bac wards (Hoai Nhon town) was rerouted, expanding the urban space of Hoai Nhon towards the sea, contributing to promoting socio-economic development, especially stimulating tourism development.

At the end of August 2024, the road connecting with DT 639 in Hoai Nhon, about 7 km long, invested by the province with nearly 800 billion VND, will be put into operation, connecting DT 639 with National Highway 1 and the North-South Expressway. Passing through the wards of Hoai Thanh Tay, Hoai Thanh, Tam Quan Nam, this route strengthens traffic connections in the East-West direction, expanding the urban space of Hoai Nhon towards the sea, gradually completing the urban planning of the town, creating a driving force for the development of the northern region of the province.

“With the new road, people are very excited. In fact, every time we go up to National Highway 1, we save half the distance compared to before. Farmers do farming more conveniently because the harvested rice can be transported straight from the field to their homes. It is also much more convenient for fishermen to move their fishing gear. With the road opened, people's lives have improved,” said Mr. Do Thanh Luot (68 years old, Tang Long 2 quarter, Tam Quan Nam ward).

According to Mr. Le Dang Tuan, Chairman of Hoai Nhon Town People's Committee, in the past 5 years, the town has attracted 69 investment projects in the area, with a total capital of 9,820 billion VND, an area of 243 hectares of land in potential development areas. Investment in building traffic infrastructure is focused. The town mobilizes resources from the Central, the province and the locality to invest in synchronous traffic infrastructure, connecting communes and wards, performing the role of a gateway for trade with localities outside the town...

On April 19, 2025, the connecting route from the center of An Nhon town to the western road of Thi Nai lagoon with a length of nearly 9.4 km, a total investment of more than 1,043 billion VND, was inaugurated, becoming an important highlight in the traffic network connecting the coastal corridor. On the other hand, in order to build a synchronous and modern urban infrastructure system, An Nhon mobilizes maximum resources, building an inter-regional and inter-regional traffic network. Currently, the town continues to deploy key traffic works on the North-South axis roads 1, 2, 3 and the East-West axis, the road connecting Nhon Tan to Becamex VSIP Binh Dinh Industrial Park (Van Canh district)...

Mr. Le Thanh Tung, Chairman of An Nhon Town People's Committee, said: An Nhon has basically completed the traffic framework of the whole town. At the same time, the locality focuses on investing in technical infrastructure and social infrastructure, notably completing the Nhon Hoa ward domestic water supply plant with a capacity of 2,900 m3 /day and night; construction and installation projects to expand the water supply network in Nhon Hung and Nhon Thanh wards... The town is coordinating with departments, branches and 2 French unions (Fensch - Lorraine Clean Water Production Joint Union and Fontoy - Fensch River Valley Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation Union) to implement a wastewater collection and treatment system project for An Nhon urban area, with a vision to 2040. An Nhon is also supported by the province from the project to build a technical infrastructure system for rainwater drainage, collection and treatment of wastewater in An Nhon town, Hoai Nhon town, Tay Son district.

Creating momentum for growth

Investing in a wooden furniture manufacturing enterprise on an area of 10 hectares in Hoai Tan Industrial Park (Hoai Nhon Town), Mr. Tran Van Thanh, Chairman of the Board of Members of Thien Phat Production, Trade and Construction Company Limited, has affirmed his brand with 90% of his products exported to "difficult" markets in the world . Notably, the enterprise's 1,200 employees and workers, most of whom are Hoai Nhon residents.

“The company’s annual revenue is from 920 to 950 billion VND, we ensure full policies for workers, with an average income of 7 million VND/person/month. Currently, we continue to be the infrastructure investor and develop new enterprises on an area of 25 hectares in Hoai Chau Industrial Park,” said Mr. Thanh.

Up to now, the economic scale of Hoai Nhon town ranks 3rd in the whole province. Industry, trade and services have developed strongly, attracting many investors and enterprises. Meanwhile, in agriculture, Hoai Nhon is proud to have a strong offshore fishing fleet in the country. Investment in infrastructure, urban landscape, and connecting traffic systems is relatively basic.

“More importantly, people's lives have changed significantly. Now the town no longer has any poor households…”, Mr. Le Dang Tuan said excitedly.

As for An Nhon town, smooth traffic connections facilitate urban development. Industrial parks, industrial clusters, power grid systems, telecommunications, water supply, residential areas, and urban areas are formed quite synchronously. Thanks to that, trade, services, and industry have developed diversely and strongly to meet the production and people's life requirements. From 2021 to present, the town's economy has grown by an average of 13.67%. The economic structure has shifted in the right direction, rapidly increasing the proportion of industry - construction, trade - services, and reducing the proportion of agriculture - forestry - fishery.

According to Director of the Department of Construction Tran Viet Bao, An Nhon and Hoai Nhon towns have been playing an important role in developing satellite cities, dynamic cities of the growth poles in the North and South of the province. Notably, with the mobilization of many resources and support from the Central and the province, in recent times, the cities have made a breakthrough in investing in infrastructure construction, especially traffic infrastructure and technical infrastructure framework, accelerating the process of urban construction, improving the quality of life of the people.
