The Belgian team won against Romania.
The disastrous opening day defeat forced the Belgian team to give their all to beat Romania. Romelu Lukaku was still unlucky, but this time his teammates knew how to score. Coach Domenico Tedesco made several personnel changes to the starting lineup, and one of them proved effective early on. In the 2nd minute, from a good one-two pass by Romelu Lukaku, Youri Tielemans – a substitute in the previous match – unleashed a long-range shot to open the scoring. With the goal taken, Kevin De Bruyne and his teammates played brilliantly. They quickly took control of the midfield and pushed the Romanian team deep into their own half. Belgium continued to create opportunities, with Jeremy Doku playing exceptionally well on the left flank, constantly tormenting the opposing defenders.
The Belgian team won against Romania.
In the 13th minute, Doku passed the ball to Lukaku, who held off an opposing defender, but his subsequent shot failed to find the net. A few minutes later, De Bruyne dribbled past three Romanian defenders before passing to Dodi Lukebakio. The midfielder unleashed a spectacular long-range shot, but the Romanian goalkeeper made an excellent save. For most of the first half, Belgium held the advantage, controlling possession for over 70%, and Romania were largely unable to counter-attack. In the second half, Belgium lost their dominance. Romania pushed forward and won many duels. However, their attack lacked cohesion, and their passing combinations were ineffective. Romania's most dangerous opportunity came from a mistake by Lukebakio, but the Romanian striker unfortunately missed the shot. Lukaku continued to demonstrate just how unlucky he is at EURO 2024. In the 63rd minute, following a through ball from Kevin de Bruyne, Lukaku moved into position and fired a shot into the net against Romania. However, VAR determined that the Belgian striker was offside, and the referee disallowed the goal. Belgium still finished the match with a two-goal lead. In the 80th minute, from a goalkeeping clearance by Koen Casteels, Kevin de Bruyne capitalized to make it 2-0. In the remaining time, Belgium had at least three more chances but were unable to extend their lead.
