Hanoi's bus stations have just announced plans to increase the number of passenger buses to ensure they can meet the high demand for travel during the peak Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday in 2025.
Hanoi Bus Station Joint Stock Company has just developed a plan to serve people traveling during the peak Tet Lunar New Year and Spring Festival season of the Year of the Snake 2025.

It is expected that 2,486 vehicles will be reserved as additional service during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Specifically, at Giap Bat Bus Station, the highest number of passengers during peak days is approximately 20,000 per day, a 350% increase compared to normal days. The number of buses is expected to be between 850 and 900 per day. The increase in passengers is mainly concentrated on routes to Nam Dinh, Thai Binh , Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, etc.
At Gia Lam Bus Station, the highest number of passengers during peak days is around 5,000 per day, an increase of about 250% compared to normal days. The expected number of buses is 400 per day, mainly concentrated on routes such as Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Bac Giang , etc.
My Dinh bus station sees approximately 22,000 passengers per day during peak days, an increase of over 350% compared to normal days. The number of buses is expected to exceed 950 per day, mainly serving routes to Hoa Binh, Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Dien Bien, Son La, Lai Chau, Quang Ninh, Cao Bang, and other destinations.
In the period leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), passenger numbers are concentrated mainly on short-haul routes. After the Tet holiday, passenger numbers increase again on long-haul routes such as Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Gia Lai, Buon Ma Thuot, etc., with a concentration at Giap Bat Bus Station.
Reportedly, Hanoi Bus Station Joint Stock Company has requested the Hanoi Department of Transport to issue 300 additional vehicle permits; allowing vehicles with these permits to travel within the city to reach bus stations in a timely manner to alleviate passenger congestion during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Mr. Pham Manh Hung, Director of Hanoi Bus Station Joint Stock Company, commented: The demand for passenger travel during the Lunar New Year holiday will be evenly distributed throughout the period, with a higher concentration on January 20-22 and January 24-27, 2025.
