Thien Hue, a female tourist from Taiwan (China) shared many videos of her culinary experiences in Hanoi's Old Quarter.

Recently, a female tourist had a day to enjoy Vietnamese dishes made from rice paper. For lunch, she ate rice paper rolls with pork, in the afternoon she had snacks of grilled rice paper, mixed rice paper, rice paper rolls and tried Western-style rice paper rolls for dinner.

Thien Hue described eating rice paper rolls with pork as eating spring rolls without frying, while hot grilled rice paper rolls are crispy and fragrant, like a Vietnamese version of pizza.

The female tourist was even more surprised when she enjoyed the Western-style rice paper rolls and commented that they were very delicious.

Thien Hue enjoys banh xeo at a Western restaurant on Hang Dieu Street, Hanoi. The restaurant is listed in the Bib Gourmand category by the Michelin Guide - delicious restaurants with affordable prices.

"The restaurant is small but packed with people," a female tourist described when arriving at the restaurant.

According to the restaurant owner, most of the customers who come here order the crispy banh xeo, which has a typical Western flavor. The restaurant's banh xeo has a variety of fillings from pork, chicken, beef to seafood.

Thien Hue ordered seafood pancakes. On the dining table, she noticed the instruction board introducing the types of vegetables to eat with and how to wrap the pancakes with rice paper, which was beautifully and clearly presented, making it easy for diners to follow.

When the hot, beautiful golden cake was brought out, Thien Hue praised: "The cake is very big. The crust is made from rice flour and turmeric so it is golden yellow."

She was surprised by the super rich and fresh basket of raw vegetables served with it, with all kinds of vegetables such as lettuce, mint, perilla, and Vietnamese balm... Many of the vegetables were so different that the female tourist could not distinguish the names. The filling of the cake was full of shrimp, squid, and fish meat.

Following the instructions, the Chinese female tourist used rice paper to roll a large roll filled with raw vegetables, pancakes, and dipped it in sweet and sour fish sauce. The female tourist kept nodding her head: "I didn't expect Vietnamese rice paper to create so many impressive dishes."

This Western-style banh xeo restaurant has been in operation since 2014 and is always bustling with customers, especially after being honored by Michelin. Each portion of banh xeo here is quite large, the crust is golden and crispy but not oily, the filling is full and attractive.

Mr. Le Trong Quoc (commonly known as Mr. Bay, from Ben Tre ) - the chef and also the owner of the restaurant, once shared with PV VietNamNet that most of the ingredients are purchased and transported from the West to Hanoi (such as bitter vegetables, cotton flowers, sesban flowers, goby fish...) so it is quite costly in terms of cost and time.

However, the restaurant owner believes that the dishes must have standard ingredients for them to have the authentic flavor of the West.

"The dishes at the restaurant all have the characteristics of the Southwest region, but are adjusted a bit to suit the tastes of the majority of diners," said Mr. Bay.

In addition to banh xeo, the restaurant also has many popular dishes such as vermicelli with fish sauce, spring rolls, grilled goby fish, and spring rolls... The restaurant also serves goby fish hotpot with giang leaves and Can Tho hotpot with fish sauce, which have the typical flavors of the West.

The restaurant has received quite good reviews from customers. Many people praise its authentic Western flavors and gentle, polite service. The downside of the restaurant is that the space is small, and the dishes are prepared as soon as they are ordered, so the waiting time is quite long. Customers going in groups should order in advance.
