Opening of the 9th Northern Chess Championship in 2025

VHO - On September 13, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Cao Bang coordinated with the Vietnam Chess Federation to organize the opening ceremony of the 9th Northern Chess Championship in 2025. The tournament had the participation of nearly 400 athletes from 17 delegations, including clubs from provinces and cities in the Northern region.

The tournament takes place on September 13-14, at the Cao Bang Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center.

The 9th Northern Chess Championship in 2025 is a useful playground, creating conditions for young athletes to compete and accumulate experience, while enhancing exchanges and connections between localities. It is an opportunity to contribute to promoting the tourism image of Non Nuoc Cao Bang, the homeland of the revolutionary origin, with its unique traditional cultural identity of ethnic groups and beautiful natural landscapes to domestic and international tourists.

The tournament has the participation of nearly 400 athletes from 17 delegations, including clubs from provinces and cities in the Northern region, of which Cao Bang delegation has the participation of 105 athletes. Athletes compete in two groups: Advanced group for all players, regardless of class, except for the U6 age group; Amateur group for players who have never won a national or international medal, competing in age groups from U6 to U17.

The athletes compete in the following categories: individual, male and female team in rapid chess, blitz chess and super blitz chess, applying the latest competition rules of the Vietnam Chess Federation. The matches are drawn using Swiss-Manager software according to the Swiss system, ensuring fairness and objectivity.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, the athletes entered the blitz chess competition with a spirit of solidarity, giving many good games to the fans.

The tournament is an opportunity for athletes to practice their skills and competitive spirit, improve the quality of athletes in the provinces in the region, contribute to the development of national chess, and at the same time, promote the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho".
