On the evening of December 3, at the WTC International Exhibition Center (Binh Duong Ward), the opening ceremony of Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week 2025 and the Shopping Seasons: Binh Duong Mega Sale program officially took place. The event marked the beginning of the largest-scale shopping and tourism stimulus series at the end of the year, aiming to promote the image of a dynamically expanding Ho Chi Minh City, connecting the industrial and commercial ecosystem.
Ms. Huynh Dinh Thai Linh, General Director of the World Trade Center Binh Duong New City (WTC), said that the center annually organizes and welcomes about 300 large and small events and 20 international exhibitions. Within the framework of this week, the highlight is the "Super Discount Sales Week" program for young people with the participation of 140 brands. Ms. Linh expects to attract about 4,000 business connection guests and more than 8,000 visitors and shoppers.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Phuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, emphasized that this was the first time the two Departments of Industry and Trade and Tourism had coordinated to organize a joint event at a new location after the merger. He affirmed that trade and tourism cannot be separated and need to be linked to support each other, especially when Ho Chi Minh City aims for double-digit growth in many economic indicators. The trade and service sector currently accounts for about 50% of the new city's GRDP.

On the tourism side, Ms. Nguyen Cam Tu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Promotion Center, said the event aimed to create a preferential shopping space, while accompanying the industry's goal by 2025: welcoming 8.5 million international visitors, 40 million domestic visitors, achieving revenue of VND290,000 billion. Ms. Tu emphasized that tourism is a comprehensive economic sector, so linking with fields such as industry and trade, culture, sports, science and technology is very important to enrich the experience and enhance attractiveness.
To attract visitors to the new area, Ms. Thai Linh admitted that this was a challenge and said that there had been early preparations, including attracting 28 companies in the Becamex ecosystem to come here. She also pointed out the potential of 12,000 entrepreneurs and experts working in the neighboring industrial parks, creating a difference compared to the city center area.

The second phase of the Shopping Season promotion program will take place from November 15 to December 31, 2025 with many deep incentives, including the "City Sale" branded promotion event being expanded to Binh Duong and Vung Tau. The Departments will continue to coordinate in building shopping routes associated with culture, cuisine, health care and improving travel conditions for tourists.
This event is not only a year-end stimulus activity, but is expected to be an important first step in the long-term, sustainable connection roadmap between Ho Chi Minh City and localities in the region, contributing to economic development and shaping new types of tourism such as industrial, urban and shopping tourism./.
