Emergency rescue for Phuong Trang passenger bus victims buried by landslide

The Traffic Police Department of Khanh Hoa Province this morning (November 17) confirmed a particularly serious accident due to natural disasters at Khanh Le Pass on National Highway 27C connecting Nha Trang - Da Lat.

Regarding the time of the accident that led to tragic consequences, as initially reported by CAND Newspaper, the accident occurred at around 10:30 p.m. on November 16 at km 45 of National Highway 27C through Nam Khanh Vinh commune, Khanh Hoa province.

At the time mentioned above, the Phuong Trang passenger bus with license plate 59H-53.114 on the route from Da Lat to Quang Ngai was approaching the above mentioned route right when a large mass of rock and soil from the mountainside on Khanh Le pass collapsed and crashed into the body of the bus.

When the accident occurred, the weather in Khanh Le Pass area was heavy and prolonged rain. Landslides occurred at both ends of the accident scene at km 43 and km 47, making search and rescue forces encounter difficulties.

And it was not until 0:00 this morning (November 17) that the police were able to reach the scene, which was littered with rocks and dirt.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phu, Director of Khanh Hoa Province Department of Construction, said that the 59H-53.114 passenger bus had 40 beds. The accident buried the bus, killing 6 people and injuring 19 others. All injured victims were transferred to Khanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital by ambulance from Center 115 and Khanh Vinh Medical Center. Many of them suffered injuries to the head, neck, abdomen, arms and legs.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Quang Dang, Head of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Khanh Hoa Province Police, said that immediately after receiving news of the accident, the unit mobilized more than 20 officers and soldiers to the scene to coordinate with search and rescue forces.
