Prosecution and temporary detention of former journalist Truong Huy San and lawyer Tran Dinh Trien

VOV.VN - Former journalist Truong Huy San (also known as Osin Huy Duc) and lawyer Tran Dinh Trien have just been prosecuted and temporarily detained.

On June 7, the Ministry of Public Security's Security Investigation Agency decided to prosecute the case of "Abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State and the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals" occurring in Hanoi and other provinces and cities.

At the same time, the authorities decided to prosecute the accused and issue an order to temporarily detain former journalist Truong Huy San. The accused Truong Huy San is being investigated for the crime of abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State and the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals under Article 331 of the Penal Code.

The investigation agency also decided to prosecute and issue an order to temporarily detain Mr. Tran Dinh Trien, head of the Vi Dan Law Office, Hanoi Bar Association.

Initial investigation results determined that the defendants Truong Huy San and Tran Dinh Trien had violated the law, taking advantage of democratic freedoms to post articles on social networks that infringed upon the interests of the State and the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals.

According to information from the Security Investigation Agency, initially at the investigation agency, Mr. Truong Huy San and Tran Dinh Trien confessed honestly and complied with the regulations at the place of detention.

The investigation agency also served decisions to prosecute the accused, executed arrest warrants for temporary detention, and searched the residences and workplaces of Mr. Truong Huy San and Tran Dinh Trien.
