Don't let small mistakes affect the 2025 high school graduation exam

(PLVN) - "Foresee and carefully review all situations, do not let a small mistake affect the efforts of the whole industry" - This is the insistence of Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong at the conference on training in inspection and examination of the 2025 High School Graduation Exam, for Departments of Education and Training, and higher education institutions from Hue City and beyond.

Change exam printing to minimize risks

Regarding the preparation for the exam, Director of the Department of Quality Management Huynh Van Chuong said that in previous years, the exam was printed on A4 size, so each exam usually had 4 to 5 pages, causing difficulties in printing and the risk of missing pages. Therefore, this year, the exam will be changed to A3 size to make printing easier, minimizing the risk due to the reduction in the number of pages.

For the component subjects in the combined exam, instead of being present 10 minutes before the exam time as before, candidates taking only the second subject will have to be present from the beginning of the exam and wait in the waiting room before entering the exam room. In addition, the break time between the two component subjects in the combined exam has also been adjusted to increase from 10 minutes to 15 minutes, giving candidates more time to prepare.

The examination invigilation and grading process has been adjusted to ensure compliance with the examination organization plan, while overcoming previous limitations and shortcomings to create more convenience for units in the implementation process.

Regarding inspection work, Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Education and Training Nguyen Duc Cuong said that this year's inspection and examination plan model will basically remain stable as the model and organization of inspection and examination activities in 2024.

Prepare thoroughly, leave no gaps, and leave no room for error during the exam.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong emphasized: "The 2025 high school graduation exam has special significance, with many new points compared to previous years. This is the first year the exam is organized according to the 2018 General Education Program, and there are still about 25,000 candidates taking the exam according to the 2006 General Education Program. This requires the organization to be synchronous and effective in all stages: exam supervision, exam room arrangement, exam questions, and printing of exam questions".

Particularly emphasizing the role of preparation for the Exam, the Deputy Minister said that if preparation is thorough, early, from a distance, without missing any work, without leaving any gaps, all work will be optimized.

Along with organizing the Exam, the Deputy Minister said that inspection and examination work is also extremely important, with the main goal of proactive prevention, including inspection before, during and after the Exam. The focus of inspection work is post-inspection, inspection of unusual issues, inspection when deemed necessary, when there is public feedback or when competent authorities see problems...

“It is necessary to anticipate and carefully review all situations that may arise. Just a small mistake by an exam supervisor or a deliberate violation by a candidate can seriously affect the entire exam organization that theeducation sector has worked hard to prepare for,” the Deputy Minister emphasized.

Emphasizing the leadership role of local People's Committees and the advisory work of the Departments of Education and Training and provincial/municipal inspectors, the Deputy Minister noted that all stages need to be prepared and implemented carefully and thoughtfully, with a careful assessment of the situation, and not to be passive. There is no need to create unnecessary tension, but it is imperative to fully anticipate possible solutions and issues that may arise.

Leadership must be thorough and comprehensive; Preparation must be thoughtful and thorough; Professional expertise must be solid; Coordination must be smooth and consistent.

In particular, the Deputy Minister especially noted the motto "4 rights" and "3 no's" that have been thoroughly implemented since the previous Exam. "4 rights" are: Correct exam regulations and instructions; correct and complete procedures; correct assigned positions, responsibilities and tasks; correct timing to promptly handle unusual situations and incidents. "3 no's" are: No negligence, subjectivity; no excessive stress and pressure; no arbitrarily handling unusual situations and incidents.

Along with that are "2 enhancements": Strengthening the sense of responsibility and professional qualifications of the staff participating in organizing the Exam; strengthening the spirit of self-awareness and compliance with the Regulations of the candidates.

“Early and thorough training is needed with the motto, principles and mandatory requirements that all subjects participating in the Exam must study and grasp the Regulations. Particularly, officers participating in inspection and examination work must grasp more thoroughly and deeply and proactively resolve unusual issues,” the Deputy Minister requested.
