From early morning of May 29 to night of May 29, the South Central, Central Highlands and Southern regions will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain with common rainfall of 30-70mm, locally over 120mm.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warns of the risk of localized heavy rain (>100mm/3h). Thunderstorms may include tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
From May 30, heavy rain in the above areas tends to decrease.
Regarding the low pressure trough in the East Sea, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that the low pressure trough has an axis at about 11-14 degrees North latitude connecting with the low pressure area at 1:00 a.m. today located at about 12.5-13.5 degrees North latitude, 110.0-111.0 degrees East longitude. The sea area from Quang Ngai to Ca Mau , the North East Sea area (including the sea area of Hoang Sa archipelago), the Central and South East Sea area (including the sea area of Truong Sa archipelago) will have showers and thunderstorms.
Forecast for the day and night of May 29, in the Gulf of Tonkin, the sea area from Da Nang to Ca Mau, Ca Mau to Kien Giang and the Gulf of Thailand, the North East Sea area (including Hoang Sa archipelago), the Central and South East Sea area (including Truong Sa archipelago) will have showers and thunderstorms. In the evening and night of May 29, the sea area from Quang Tri to Hue will have scattered showers and thunderstorms.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting also warned that during thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, strong gusts of wind of level 6-7, and waves over 2.0m high.
All vessels operating in the above areas are at risk of being affected by tornadoes and strong gusts of wind.
