No cultural teaching for students during the summer

Specifically, the 2024 summer activity plan of the Ho Chi Minh City education sector for students and trainees in primary schools, secondary schools, high schools, multi-level schools, continuing education centers, and vocational training centers focuses primarily on developing skills for students; building and developing diverse clubs to attract trainees to participate.

Notably, the HCM City Department of Education and Training emphasized the requirement not to organize cultural teaching for students during the summer, only cultural review for students with weak academic performance.

Based on the actual situation and current regulations, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City encourages units to proactively develop plans to adjust content, organization scale and appropriate organization methods.

Notably, regarding personnel, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training requires that "all activities taking place during the summer need to pay attention to assigning cadres, teachers, and supervisors to ensure absolute safety and not affect exam activities."

Summer activities are held from June 1 to August 20. In case educational institutions are not on summer break at the opening of summer, summer activities will still be held and concentrated in school space.

During the summer, students are given swimming lessons and instruction in water safety skills.

With the theme "Practical Action, Prioritizing Resources for Children," the 2024 summer activities focus on developing children's skills. Activities include: promoting and educating children about traditions, history, culture, ethics, lifestyle, and law; providing recreation, entertainment, skill development, and improving physical and mental health; enhancing awareness of traffic safety and environmental protection; promoting children's rights; and volunteer activities.

In addition, organizing popular swimming, preventing drowning, fire and accident prevention, and instructing on anti-drowning skills, safety when using social networks, self-protection, etc. are proposed to improve physical and mental health and ensure safety for children.

Regarding funding, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training estimates the summer activity budget for districts and Thu Duc City at 40,000 VND per child; and for other districts at 47,000 VND per child. Accordingly, Thu Duc City, districts, and other districts will allocate budgets to organize classes to enhance knowledge, teach talents, foreign languages, and provide sports activities for children at cultural accommodation areas in their respective localities.

Summer operating expenses of departments, branches, sectors and Thu Duc City and districts in Ho Chi Minh City are spent within the 2024 budget target and mobilize additional social resources.
