Checking the project of embankment to prevent riverbank erosion in the province

- On November 17, a working delegation of the Provincial People's Committee led by Mr. Tran Thanh Nhan, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, inspected and reviewed the progress of the implementation of the projects: embankment to prevent erosion on the Ky Cung river bank and embankment to overcome erosion on the Bac Khe river bank.

According to the inspection report, the Ky Cung riverbank embankment project and the Bac Khe riverbank embankment project were implemented with the goal of overcoming riverbank erosion, stabilizing the flow, protecting residents, land and essential infrastructure; and stabilizing people's lives in the area.

Dong Kinh ward leaders speak about problems related to site clearance work

For the Ky Cung riverbank embankment project, the investment scale includes: construction of an embankment line to prevent landslides on the Ky Cung riverbank in the old Lang Son city area (in Dong Kinh ward) and Loc Binh town, old Loc Binh district (in Loc Binh commune) with a total length of 2.97 km. The total investment of the project is 200 billion VND. The project implementation period is 2022 - 2025.

Regarding the project implementation status, the embankment section in Loc Binh commune has been implemented with the construction value reaching about 75% of the contract. For the embankment section in Dong Kinh ward, the contractor has prepared materials and implemented the construction with the construction value reaching 20% of the contract. Currently, the project implementation is still stuck in the site clearance work (in which the embankment section through Loc Binh commune is stuck in 3 cases; the section through Dong Kinh ward is stuck in 16 cases).

For the project of embankment to overcome erosion of Bac Khe river bank in That Khe and Trang Dinh communes. Investment scale: construction of embankment to overcome erosion on both sides of Bac Khe river with a total length of over 6.6 km (left bank embankment nearly 3.1 km, right bank embankment over 3.5 km). Total investment of the project is 139 billion VND; project implementation time is 2025.

Up to now, the contractor has cleared 1,500 m of land; poured concrete for the foundation and 400 m of embankment walls. Currently, the project implementation is still facing difficulties in the supply of earth filling materials, and the temporary road system serving the construction has not been completed...

At the inspection session, delegates focused on discussing and clarifying a number of issues related to the site clearance work for the Ky Cung riverbank erosion prevention embankment project; problems related to the embankment of the Bac Khe riverbank erosion prevention embankment project; solutions to speed up construction progress...

Comrade Tran Thanh Nhan, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, delivered a concluding speech at the inspection session.

Concluding the inspection, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Provincial Land Fund Development Center to coordinate with the People's Committee of Loc Binh Commune and Dong Kinh Ward to continue to propagate, mobilize, and find appropriate solutions in site clearance; arrange more human resources to speed up the progress of removing obstacles and difficulties in site clearance. The Department of Agriculture and Environment will coordinate with relevant units to quickly resolve obstacles and procedures related to land filling for the embankment project to overcome erosion on the Bac Khe river bank.

Along with that, the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board coordinated with the contractor to have a plan and schedule for the construction progress of the two projects on November 18, 2025; assigning staff to regularly be present at the project sites to monitor, supervise, and grasp the progress to promptly urge and remove difficulties and obstacles in the process of project implementation.

For contractors implementing projects, it is necessary to make maximum use of construction methods; mobilize human resources, machinery, and implement flexible and practical construction plans... Thereby further accelerating the progress of project implementation.
