Previously, at around 2:00 p.m. the same day, upon receiving the news, Phuoc Thanh Commune Police coordinated with the Commune Civil Defense Command to mobilize all forces and means to organize rescue.
At this time, heavy rain was still pouring down, landslides were occurring continuously, endangering the forces on duty. Police officers, soldiers, militia, and local people used hoes, shovels, and even their bare hands to dig through layers of mud to search for the victim Ho Van B. (born in 1987, residing locally) who was trapped in a house that collapsed due to the landslide.
After nearly an hour of effort, at around 3:30 p.m., the authorities were able to bring the victim out safely and transfer him to the Commune Health Center for emergency treatment. The victim was fortunate to only suffer minor injuries.
Immediately afterwards, the Commune Police continued to review the scene, coordinate and support the emergency evacuation of 20 households with 60 people out of the danger zone.
The landslide alone buried 6 houses, 17 people were lucky to escape. At the same time, the authorities stretched ropes, put up warning signs, arranged for security and absolute safety for the people.
Local authorities recommend that people continue to be vigilant and comply with evacuation instructions when there is a natural disaster warning to prevent risks and limit unfortunate damage that may occur.
