According to data from the Ha Tinh Department of Education and Training, of the more than 17,300 12th grade students registered for the exam, more than 17,000 candidates took the exam under the 2018 GeneralEducation Program; 331 independent candidates registered for the exam under the 2006 Education Program.
The number of candidates registered for the following subjects: Math 16,788, Literature 16,789, Geography nearly 9,600, History more than 7,900, Physics more than 4,100, Chemistry more than 3,100 and the lowest is Biology with nearly 900 candidates... Looking at the registration data, it shows that the trend of candidates choosing social sciences (KHXH) subjects is still overwhelming compared to natural sciences (KHTN).

At Dong Loc High School (Can Loc), out of a total of 446 12th grade students this year, in addition to the two compulsory subjects of Math and Literature, which have a 100% registration rate, the number of students registering for Social Sciences subjects still accounts for the majority of the remaining subjects. Specifically: Geography 282, History 133, Legal Education 118, while Biology has only 39 students, Physics 96 and Chemistry 123.
Student Bui Thuy Linh - class 12A5, Dong Loc High School shared: "In the 2018 General Education Program, right from the beginning of the grade, the school has provided career counseling and orientation so that we can choose subjects that are suitable for our abilities and future career aspirations. Therefore, in addition to Math and Literature, most of the students in the class choose to register for Social Sciences subjects."
At Ky Anh High School (Ky Anh Town), Social Sciences subjects are also the choice of the majority of candidates. Accordingly, out of a total of 653 candidates, nearly 400 students chose Geography, 177 students chose Economics and Law, while only 23 students chose Biology.

Explaining the fact that candidates choose social sciences more than natural sciences, Ms. Le Thi Tu Anh - Vice Principal of Ky Anh High School said: "In reality, natural sciences require students to have logical thinking, systematic thinking and high application ability. Meanwhile, social sciences are closely linked to real life, helping students to easily reason and relate, and achieve higher scores. Therefore, many students feel more confident when choosing social sciences. Especially in Biology, it is mainly for candidates taking the B block - a difficult block, so few candidates choose it."
In 2025, for the first time, the High School Graduation Exam will be organized according to the 2018 General Education Program with many innovations. In particular, the exam is designed to assess the ability to apply knowledge into practice with many questions from real-life situations. Therefore, with the thought that Social Science subjects are closer to life and easier to "score", this is also the choice of candidates who only want to take the High School Graduation Exam.

Mr. Doan Minh Dien - Principal of Thanh Sen High School (Ha Tinh City) informed: "This year, the whole school has 236 12th grade students, of which 187 students wish to take the History exam, 129 students wish to take the Geography exam. For natural science subjects, the number of students registering is lower, specifically: 58 students in Physics, 36 in Chemistry and 17 in Biology. Thanh Sen High School is one of the schools with low entrance scores, so it is inevitable that students choose more social subjects. Because the main purpose of most students is to pass the graduation exam, they choose social science subjects to increase their chances."
According to the general assessment of teachers, the trend of candidates choosing social science subjects more than natural science subjects in the 2025 High School Graduation Exam reflects the differentiation in choosing subjects suitable for interests, abilities, and changes in testing methods. This is also the general trend of candidates nationwide. This reality also shows that students are increasingly paying more attention to career orientation for the future.
