Expectations for infrastructure and technology development

Hue enters a new term with the aspiration to become a typical heritage city of Vietnam, a major center of the Southeast Asian region. It is not only a story of planning and architecture, but also a comprehensive development direction, combining conservation with modernity, taking heritage as the foundation for creativity and sustainable development.

Mr. Nguyen Han, a resident of Thuan Hoa ward, commented: “Observing the city over the past years, the urban landscape has changed a lot, but there are still slow-progressing renovation projects that ruin the urban beauty. For example, in the area around Tinh Tam Lake, the lake renovation project has not been started even though the residents have relocated, so it has been prolonged and has become a garbage collection site. Therefore, I hope that in the coming time, the projects will speed up so that the streets will be completed soon, and the city will have a truly spacious and more synchronous appearance, from traffic, lighting, water supply and drainage, to waste treatment and public spaces.”

Mr. Vu Van Chuong, Director of Vietnam Pride Tourism Co., Ltd., believes in Hue in a further vision: “Hue can absolutely become a smart city, digital administration, where all utilities from people, businesses to the government are connected in a unified digital space. I have been to Kyoto (Japan), this is an ancient capital with very unique characteristics and with the development orientation of “Green - Smart - Rich in identity”, I believe Hue can absolutely become a “Kyoto of Vietnam - both ancient and modern, full of vitality”.

Along with expectations for infrastructure and technology, many people hope that the development process will preserve cultural identity, not let urbanization fade the unique features of the ancient capital of Hue, and develop without losing itself.

Economic development, creating more jobs

The city aims for growth of 10% or more during the entire term, with the economic structure shifting strongly towards: Services - industry - high-tech agriculture.

Hue has a lot of potential with a team of young entrepreneurs, an abundant intellectual force and large universities. Mr. Le Van Tuong Lan, Head of Training and Student Affairs Department of Hue University, said: "Enterprises in Hue are growing rapidly, but quality job opportunities for students after graduation are still very difficult. I hope the city will continue to improve the investment environment, encourage small businesses, business households, and young people to start businesses to retain young workers."

Surveying people's opinions, the majority expect that in the coming time, the city will have more new, diverse, stable jobs with good income; suburban farmers hope to participate in the clean agricultural and urban agricultural value chain. With tourism - the city's key economic sector, many people also want to be trained in skills to have more quality community tourism models, form new services in which people are the main subject, and build a brand of a friendly and hospitable tourist city.

Many believe that if industrial development, service, digital transformation, and private economic programs are effectively implemented, Hue will make a leap forward, becoming an attractive destination for both domestic and foreign tourists and investors.

Improve quality of life

Along with urban and economic development, Hue people place many expectations on education, health care, and culture, the fields that make up the "soul" of the land of learning and culture.

Hue is aiming to become a multi-disciplinary, multi-field, high-quality education and training center of the country, gradually building Hue University into a national university. Mr. Ho Cong Tuan, Phong Quang ward shared that people really want their children to study in a better environment, with an open educational program, linked to practice and international integration; thereby, they can find favorable jobs when they grow up.

In the medical field, Hue has been and is the leading specialized center in the Central region, with a team of good doctors and a modern hospital system. NQ sets the goal of building Hue into a medical center of the Southeast Asian region, arousing pride and belief that every Hue resident will enjoy high-quality medical services right in their hometown.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Phu Xuan ward, said: “Hue is the capital of heritage, but heritage only truly lives when it is associated with contemporary life. The city continues to be creative in preserving and developing cultural industries, experiential tourism, unique festivals, etc. so that Hue culture is not only preserved but also spread in every lifestyle and every person.”

Many people also expect the city to expand creative spaces, develop community culture, sports, and improve spiritual life. Hue is a land of learning, where people can develop comprehensively in body, mind, and soul, which is also the foundation for a sustainable heritage city in the future.
