On November 6, the Department of Education and Training of Lam Dong province said it had issued a document giving the People's Committees of communes, wards, special zones, and units and schools under the department the initiative to let students stay home from school in dangerous areas to respond to storm Kalmaegi.
Specifically, affiliated units, People's Committees of communes, wards and special zones have proactive plans to let students stay home from school in dangerous areas (deep flooding, landslides, strong winds) depending on weather developments; arrange appropriate make-up classes after conditions stabilize.
At the same time, schools should not organize extracurricular activities, field trips, picnics, or large gatherings outdoors during storms. Schools with boarding students should prepare backup plans such as electricity, water, medicine, and essential foods.
Lam Dong Province Department of Education and Training also requested its affiliated units to strengthen propaganda and remind students and parents to raise awareness of natural disaster prevention and avoidance, and absolutely not to go through streams, overflowing culverts, deep flooded areas, and landslides.
In the 2025-2026 school year, Lam Dong province will have more than 800,000 students at all levels, at 1,605 educational and training facilities.
