On the afternoon of August 13, the People's Committee of Da Huoai 3 Commune, Lam Dong Province, said that heavy rain and flash floods in the early morning of the same day caused great damage in the commune. Initial statistics estimated the damage at nearly 9 billion VND.

Accordingly, heavy rains lasting from the night of August 12 until early this morning caused water from upstream to rise in Da Huoai River through Da Huoai 3 commune, flooding dozens of houses and gardens of people on both sides of the river.

Officers and soldiers of Battalion 37, Engineering Brigade 293, Military Region 7 support people to overcome the consequences of flash floods.

According to statistics, the flash flood injured 1 person, 4 houses had their walls partially collapsed and cracked; 1 grocery store completely collapsed. The rising floodwaters caused about 100 houses to be partially flooded, many household items were swept away. Along with that, about 75 water pumps and water pipe systems of people along the banks of the Da Huoai River were swept away by floodwaters.

In addition, flash floods and inundation also damaged about 35 hectares of crops. Hundreds of durian trees were broken and uprooted; 10 fish ponds were washed away. Two bridges in Village 8 were washed away. The preliminary estimate of damage caused by floods is nearly 9 billion VND.

Forces support people to overcome the consequences of flash floods.

Immediately during and after the flash floods, the People's Committee of Da Huoai 3 commune mobilized more than 200 officers and soldiers from the police and militia forces to coordinate with the military forces of the 37th Engineer Battalion, Brigade 293, Military Region 7 stationed in the area to participate in supporting the emergency evacuation of households in areas at risk of flash floods and landslides to safe places; at the same time, supporting people to move their belongings, assets and clean up their houses.

Local authorities and functional agencies have inspected the hill in Village 1 that has subsided and encouraged people to proactively evacuate when heavy rain occurs to ensure safety.
