Leaders of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee had a dialogue with farmers to listen to their opinions, share difficulties and discuss solutions for sustainable agricultural development in the new period, adapting to climate change.

On the afternoon of December 2, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee organized a conference for the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to dialogue with farmers in 2025 with the theme "Supporting farmers to develop sustainable agriculture to adapt to climate change".

The dialogue was held directly and online in 124 communes, wards and special zones in the province, with nearly 5,000 farmers representing more than 348,600 farmer members, cooperatives, farms and agricultural enterprises in the area.

In his opening speech, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi said that over the past time, agriculture has continued to play a supporting role in the local economy . The average growth rate reached nearly 4.8%/year; agricultural export turnover was more than 1.2 billion USD; there were 428 linkage chains with the increasing participation of farmers, businesses and cooperatives.

The province's economic growth in 2025 is expected to increase by 2.32%, of which the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector accounts for 23.7%. There are 9 types of crops with the largest acreage in the country, including vegetables, flowers, coffee, durian, dragon fruit, avocado, pepper, macadamia, and mulberry.

He emphasized that the merger of the provinces opens up new development space, with a rich agricultural ecosystem, diverse in terrain, climate, and resources. At the same time, it poses many new requirements for management, regional connectivity, and production reorganization.

Lam Dong has identified farmers as the center of the transition to green, circular, and smart agriculture. The Provincial People's Committee is implementing many programs and policies, such as restructuring the agricultural sector; supporting the conversion of crop and livestock varieties; investing in irrigation and natural disaster warning systems; supporting deep processing enterprises; preferential credit; agricultural insurance; supporting digital transformation, traceability, product promotion and consumption.

Farmers and authorities at all levels should share openly and comfortably. With their roles and responsibilities, departments, branches and localities should proactively resolve problems and remove difficulties for farmers, creating a connection between Lam Dong provincial government and farmers in the new period.

At the direct and online dialogue, many opinions from farmers, businesses, and agricultural cooperatives focused on discussing groups of issues such as solutions to reduce natural disaster risks, adapt to climate change; apply science and technology, digital transformation and develop smart agriculture...

The opinions, proposals and recommendations of farmers, businesses and cooperatives were directly and frankly discussed and answered by Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Trong Yen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Ngoc Hiep and leaders of relevant departments and branches at the conference. Other opinions were compiled by the Organizing Committee to be sent to relevant departments, branches and agencies for written responses as soon as possible.

Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi pledged to listen to and direct the timely resolution of legitimate petitions from farmers, businesses, and cooperatives. For issues beyond the province's authority, the province will synthesize and propose the Central Government to consider support.

He believes that with the responsibility and determination to accompany farmers, the dialogue conference will create new momentum for Lam Dong agriculture to develop more strongly and sustainably; better adapt to climate change; improve farmers' income and life; and make practical contributions to the socio-economic development goals of Lam Dong province in the new period.
