Vietnam Football Federation offers condolences on the passing of player Tran Dang Thien

(NLDO) - Suffering a stroke while playing an amateur football match on June 3, former Ho Chi Minh City futsal player Tran Dang Thien passed away at the age of 25, shocking the Vietnamese football world.

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Fanpage wrote: "Hearing the news that former futsal player Tran Dang Thien (born in 2000) suddenly passed away on the evening of June 3, while participating in a grassroots football match in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam Football Federation would like to send its deepest condolences to the family and relatives of player Tran Dang Thien."

Dang Thien used to play for Tan Hiep Hung Club in national futsal tournaments and was also a member of the Vietnamese Student futsal team that won silver medal at the 2020 Southeast Asian Student Games , while studying at the University of Physical Education and Sports.

After leaving the professional playing field, Dang Thien switched to coaching for Phu Duc Tri team from the end of 2023. In addition, he often participated in grassroots football tournaments and achieved many successes.

On the evening of June 3, Thien participated in a street football match and suddenly collapsed on the field without colliding with anyone. Despite the active first aid from teammates and medical staff on site, Dang Thien still did not survive and passed away at the age of 25.

Commenting on his junior, former player Nguyen Thanh Long Giang sadly said: "It was surprising and sad to hear that Thien suddenly passed away. Thien had a gentle and sociable personality, was loved by many players and worked with me to make many community football teaching clips."

Meanwhile, former captain and futsal player of Vietnam national team Nguyen Bao Quan did not believe the truth: "He grew up in the Ho Chi Minh City futsal field, was a student of coach Pham Minh Giang, and played with me in the Southeast Asian Student Sports Festival futsal tournament. Thien was so young, it is a pity for the sudden passing of a gentle, lovely player."

Dang Thien's coffin was placed at An Binh Funeral Home (District 5, Ho Chi Minh City), then cremated at Da Phuoc Cemetery, Binh Chanh District.
