What's interesting about the Can Gio Whale Festival 2025?

More than 20 cultural, artistic, and sports activities will take place within the framework of the Can Gio Whale Festival 2025.

The Can Gio Whale Festival 2025 is jointly organized by the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City and the People's Committee of Can Gio commune.

Takes place for three days

The Can Gio Whale Festival is held annually to preserve and promote the traditional cultural values ​​of the locality; at the same time, it propagates and educates love for the profession, homeland and sacred islands.

According to the organizers, this year's festival takes place over three days, from October 5 to 7 (August 14 to 16 of the lunar calendar) with more than 20 activities.

The ceremony to visit the Can Gio Sac Forest Martyrs Cemetery and the ceremony to visit the Rung Sac - Can Gio Martyrs Temple will take place on the morning of October 5. At 8am on the same day, there will be a flag-raising ceremony at Can Thanh Park.

The Can Gio Fishermen's Festival is one of the main activities of the Can Gio Whale Festival, which will open at 7:30 p.m. on October 5, at the main stage of Can Thanh Park.

On October 6, at 6:00 p.m., a ceremony to pay respect to the kind and gentle ancestors and old friends will take place at the Mausoleum of Ong Thuy Tuong.

Also on the evening of October 6, there will be an art program called Nghinh Ong Can Gio - Full Moon Festival to serve fishermen and tourists at the main stage of Can Thanh Park.

At 10pm on the same day, there is an activity of releasing lanterns on Can Gio beach to pray for favorable weather, a prosperous and peaceful life.

The main activity of the Can Gio Whale Festival is the Whale Festival on the sea and welcoming the Whale Festival group to Lang Ong at 9:00 a.m. on October 7, at Lang Ong Thuy Tuong, the mechanical ferry, and Tac Xuat ferry.

The festival's closing art program will take place on the evening of October 7, at the main stage of Can Thanh park.

Fireworks display on the occasion of the Can Gio Whale Festival

Within the framework of the Can Gio Whale Festival 2025, there are also many exciting activities such as: The 4th Green Marathon 2025 from September 26 to 28, at the Can Gio Commune Sports and Gymnasium.

Exhibition of images and artifacts about the formation and development of the Can Gio Whale Festival on Le Thuong and Dang Van Kieu streets and Can Thanh Park. Exhibition time is from October 4 to 8.

The fair and trade exhibition to stimulate consumer goods shopping in 2025 and display, introduce and buy and sell OCOP products of Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces will take place at the Cultural - Sports Service Supply Center of Can Gio commune, from October 4 to 14.

Traditional folk games featuring coastal industries are played to serve tourists at Can Gio market, at the beginning of Le Thuong street on October 5 and 7.

The organizing committee organizes competitions: Children's painting contest, lantern making contest, flower car decoration and parade contest.

Organize professional art performances, traditional opera, mass art, amateur music exchanges, water puppetry; street circus, children's art; organize mid-autumn festival, full moon festival, take care of Mid-Autumn Festival for children...

Many sports activities are also organized such as: Ho Chi Minh City Youth Cycling Championship 2025, Beach Games Tournament, Can Gio Open Petanque Tournament, Can Gio Open Futsal Tournament, Pickelball Tournament, Stilt Racing Tournament, Tennis Tournament...

Along with that are performance activities to serve the people: Lion - Lion - Dragon performance, martial arts music; artistic kite performance; motorized paragliding; Muay Thai performance; Flycam light art performance...

According to plan, at 10:00 p.m. on October 6, there will be a fireworks display at Can Thanh Park.

Can Gio Whale Festival was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2013.

Previously, in 2012, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee recognized Ong Thuy Tuong Tomb as an architectural and artistic relic of the city.
