Kinhtedothi - On the afternoon of March 14, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha attended the launching ceremony for preparations for the APEC 2027 High-Level Week in Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang province.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha said that hosting APEC 2027 is both a great honor and a sacred responsibility, as well as a heavy task.
At the same time, this is also a unique and special opportunity to help Phu Quoc affirm its position as one of the most beautiful "tourist paradises" on the planet, demonstrating its capacity to organize major world- class events. This will create unprecedented momentum for Phu Quoc's development.
"In preparation for the APEC 2027 High-Level Week, Kien Giang province has made great efforts in carrying out many tasks assigned by the Standing Committee of the Government, achieving certain results that deserve recognition," the Deputy Prime Minister assessed.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested Kien Giang province and Phu Quoc city to continue strictly implementing the directives of the Standing Committee of the Government on preparations for hosting the APEC 2027 High-Level Week, considering this a particularly important political task.
Kien Giang province and Phu Quoc city need to proactively coordinate closely with ministries and agencies to develop programs, scenarios, and implementation plans with the common goal of organizing the APEC 2027 High-Level Week with the highest standards, ensuring absolute security and safety, and preparing all necessary conditions to ensure the success of the event.
"Urgently establish a Steering Committee to organize the APEC High-Level Week, assigning responsibilities to each member. Members of the Steering Committee must proactively and closely monitor the situation and progress according to their assigned tasks," the Deputy Prime Minister requested.
In addition, it is important to do a good job in preparing for investment and clearing land for key projects and works, and to hand over the land early to facilitate the implementation of key projects and works serving the APEC 2027 High-Level Week.
Kien Giang province and Phu Quoc city need to clearly define their role as hosts to closely coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and domestic and international press and media agencies to develop tourism promotion programs, introducing to international friends a friendly and peaceful Vietnam, a Kien Giang that is innovative and developing, and especially, a beautiful, unique, attractive, and environmentally friendly Phu Quoc island.
"The Government, the Prime Minister, and ministries, sectors, and localities will always stand alongside Kien Giang and Phu Quoc to successfully organize the APEC 2027 High-Level Week, leaving a deep impression on friends around the world about a friendly, peaceful, dynamic, integrated, and responsible Vietnam; and about the beautiful and unique Phu Quoc, an attractive destination on the world tourism map," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
For Vietnam, APEC has supported the enhancement of economic reform capacity and regional integration, contributing to narrowing the development gap and creating a foundation for Vietnam to participate in larger arenas such as the World Trade Organization (WTO) and new generation Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). This demonstrates the importance of APEC to Vietnam's socio-economic development and international integration.
As a member of APEC, particularly during its hosting of the Forum in 2006 and 2017, Vietnam has made significant, positive, and proactive contributions to APEC, helping to promote peace, stability, cooperation, and regional economic integration. Simultaneously, this has contributed to enhancing the country's standing in the region and globally, and promoting the image of the Vietnamese people and nation.
