The 2025 European-Vietnamese Documentary Film Festival takes place from September 12-18.

On September 8, information from the Central Documentary and Scientific Film Studio said that the 15th European - Vietnamese Documentary Film Festival will take place in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from September 12 - 18, with the participation of 8 countries and 18 films.

The festival is organized by the European Union of Cultural Institutes and Embassies (EUNIC) in collaboration with the Central Documentary and Scientific Film Studio.

At this festival, audiences will have the opportunity to discover 14 excellent documentaries from 8 countries: Austria, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Belgium (Wallonia-Brussels), Israel and the host country Vietnam. Many of these films have received awards at prestigious film festivals.

Specifically, 7 excellent documentaries from 7 countries around the world include: “Paper Mâché: Fano Carnival” by director Andrea Lodovochetti (Italy); “Strange Birds” by director Shakked Auerbach (Israel); “The Princess” by director Ed Perkins (UK); “The Most Beautiful Man on the Planet” by directors Kristina Lindstrom and Kristian Petri (Sweden); “Steel in the Veins” by director Thierry Michel Belgium (Wallonie-Bruxelles); “The Grand Museum” by director Johannes Holzhausen (Austria); “La Roja” - Journey to the World Throne by director Eulogio Romero Lacalle (Spain).

At the 15th European - Vietnamese Documentary Film Festival in 2025, Vietnam will participate with 11 documentaries. Of which, 7 Vietnamese Documentary films participating in this Festival include: "Journey of Love" by director Le Anh Tuan; "Whose Dream" by director Do Thi Huyen Trang; "Not Surrendering to Fate" by director Hoang Ha Le; "Nghe - the Mascot of the Vietnamese" by director Dao Duc Thanh; "Ke Go - Miracle of the People's Heart" by director Nguyen Duc Ngoc; "Contractor of the Year U.SOM" by director Trinh Quang Tung; "The Will of the Champion" by director Nguyen Tien Dung.

Four films by independent authors were screened at the Central Documentary and Scientific Film Studio, including: “Brilliant Horizon” by director Lan Nguyen; “Monsoon Wind” by director Le Thi Tham; “Toan Oi” by director Nguyen Ho Bao Nghi; “Letter to Mother” by director Ha Le Diem.

Introducing the Vietnamese films participating in the Festival, Mr. Trinh Quang Tung, Deputy General Director in charge of the Central Documentary and Scientific Film Studio, said that this is an important opportunity to promote documentary films to domestic and foreign audiences. At the same time, through the artistic documentary films in the European - Vietnamese Documentary Film Festivals, we will have the opportunity to exchange, interact, learn and understand each other. From there, we will build an increasingly close and friendly relationship, developing in all aspects between Vietnam and European countries and vice versa.

According to the Organizing Committee, the European - Vietnamese Documentary Film Festival is a cultural event introducing documentary films produced by the Central Documentary and Scientific Film Studio and European countries. The films carry their own messages, are made in different ways, but all help the audience discover more about cultures, countries and colorful life.

This year's film festival offers many multi-dimensional perspectives on the lives, cultures, and societies of countries in a multi-dimensional, emotional world. This is also an activity to promote cultural exchange between countries and Vietnam, an opportunity for audiences to learn about the countries, people, and cultures of other countries through documentary films.

Through the films presented at the 15th Festival, audiences will discover stories about ordinary people who are facing sometimes quite serious problems, thereby demonstrating resilience in the face of challenges. At the same time, audiences will witness slices of life that can evoke many emotions, thoughts and become a source of inspiration and hope.

The documentaries will be screened free of charge to the public from September 12 to 18. Each screening will feature a Vietnamese documentary and a foreign film. Films by independent filmmakers will be screened at the Central Documentary and Scientific Film Studio, from 9am to 5pm on Sunday, September 14, 2025.

In Hanoi, the film is shown at the Central Documentary and Scientific Film Studio, 465 Hoang Hoa Tham, Ngoc Ha Ward. In Ho Chi Minh City, the film is shown at the DCINE Ben Thanh Cinema, 6 Mac Dinh Chi, Saigon Ward.
