The Houthi-run al-Masirah television channel reported on the evening of May 30 that US and British fighter jets had carried out six airstrikes on Yemen's capital, Sanaa.

Three airstrikes targeted al-Nahdayn Mountain in central Sanaa, one near Sanaa airport in the north of the city and two additional airstrikes targeted the Jarban area in Sanhan district, the southernmost part of Sanaa. In addition, US-British coalition warplanes carried out several airstrikes on the Red Sea port city of Hodeidah.
Houthi forces began launching anti-ship ballistic missiles and deploying attack drones last November targeting ships believed to be linked to Israel transiting the Red Sea. This move was intended to show solidarity with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
In response, the US-UK naval coalition, stationed in the waters since January this year, has been conducting regular airstrikes and missile attacks against Houthi targets to deter the group, but the approach has only led to an expansion of Houthi attacks on US and UK commercial and naval vessels.
