Linh Huyen teaches reformed opera in her painting exhibition

At the opening of her solo painting exhibition The Universe Can Also Talk, artist Linh Huyen attracted attention when she suddenly taught children to sing reformed opera.

Linh Huyen has long been known as a cai luong artist, so when she announced her solo painting exhibition, many of Linh Huyen's acquaintances were surprised by her change in direction.

Linh Huyen: 44 consecutive days of drawing 44 pictures

This is the first time Linh Huyen has organized an exhibition. The universe can also talk, consisting of 35 paintings, will be displayed at the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Museum from June 17 to 29.

Sharing at the opening ceremony, artist Linh Huyen said that because she was busy with some work, this time she returned to Vietnam and stayed longer, from which she came up with the idea of ​​holding a painting exhibition.

Linh Huyen married Italian artist Richard di San Marzano. She said that the day she moved to Italy, only one month later, near where she lived, a major earthquake caused a terrible disaster that buried an entire village of more than 300 people.

Linh Huyen said: "The first time I witnessed such a disaster, I felt lost, like I was in free fall, mentally confused.

My family lived on a hill, and every day I just looked at nature and thought. Then suddenly for 44 days I kept drawing non-stop and completed 44 paintings. And strangely, after those 44 days I stopped drawing, and had no idea what to draw next!

She added that after getting the exhibition permit, she asked her husband in Italy to bring the painting back to Vietnam, but due to regulations, they could not bring the real painting back. In the end, they chose to take a photo of the real painting and then print it on canvas in time for the exhibition.

Dr. Ma Thanh Cao - former director of the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Museum - confided about Linh Huyen: "I have known Linh Huyen for more than 20 years. I am very happy but not surprised that Linh Huyen has moved on to a new art form, which is painting because her husband is a painter and curator, and she has also supported and coordinated the organization of a number of meaningful painting exhibitions.

Linh Huyen is an artist so her emotions are very strong, plus the ups and downs of life have helped Linh Huyen confidently hold a brush to speak her mind."

Ms. Thanh Cao also expressed that if we evaluate professionally, there are still concerns, but the spirit of the works is very good, especially after the turmoil of humanity in recent years.

Linh Huyen's amateur case also gives people more confidence to boldly live with their passion. She also mentioned artist Tra Giang who switched to painting and was very successful.

Linh Huyen 'lures' visitors to learn to sing reformed opera

Artist Linh Huyen has been singing since she was young, and has collaborated with many reformed opera troupes such as the Tuoi Tre Commercial Reformed Opera Troupe, Dong Thap Cultural Troupe, Tran Huu Trang Theater... Later, she also developed her ability to write reformed opera and perform comedy with Anh Vu.

She also organized a tourism art program called Hon Viet , performed cai luong plays such as Tieu anh hung Nam quoc, Chat ngoc khong tan, Ba chua tho Nom ...

On the opening morning, when there were visitors who were students from an international school, Linh Huyen spontaneously sang the song Tinh anh ban chieu (The Mat Seller's Love) . After that, she also taught the children the basic notes of the pentatonic music of Cai Luong.

And Linh Huyen concluded by asking the students whether they think Cai Luong is good or not, and if any of them like it, Ms. Linh Huyen invites them to join the Cai Luong singing class to learn and love more the traditional art of the Southern region.

On this occasion, artist Linh Huyen also organized a mini show called Linh Huyen - Celebrating 37 years of singing career, taking place on the evening of June 26 at Khong Ten tea room.

During the show, Linh Huyen will perform with artists Xuan Huong, Ngoc Anh, Quang Thanh, Huy Tung, Nguyen Loc...
