Portugal will kick off their EURO 2024 campaign with a match against the Czech Republic. Fans are hoping Ronaldo and his teammates will secure their first three points of the season.
This year, Portugal is considered a contender for the title. They won EURO 2016, but were eliminated in the round of 16 in the most recent tournament.
Two years ago, the team from the Iberian Peninsula reached the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup. Following that tournament, coach Roberto Martinez took over and led Portugal to significant progress.
Heading into EURO 2024, Portugal went through a series of friendly matches with relatively positive results: two wins and one loss. Notably, superstar Ronaldo only played in the final match and scored a brace.
On the other hand, the Czech Republic could be considered the "dark horse" at this year's European Championship. In the last four EURO tournaments, they were eliminated in the group stage twice (2008, 2016) and reached the quarter-finals twice (2012, 2020).
In preparation for this season, coach Ivan Hasek's team had five consecutive wins in friendly matches. This served as a springboard for them to continue their surprise campaign against Portugal.
The match between Portugal and the Czech Republic in Group F will take place at 2:00 AM on June 19th and will be broadcast live on TV360, VTV3,FPT Play, and HTV7.
