On December 2, Mr. Le Van Vi - Vice Chairman of Tay Hoa Commune People's Committee ( Dak Lak ) - said that the working group is inspecting the entire landslide area and the properties swept away by floodwaters from Ba River. Many livestock farms and barns of households downstream were destroyed, and production land was deeply dredged.
At the scene, the Ba River bank in this area, which had been concreted and reinforced, was "torn apart" by the flood. A previously shallow stream was deepened by the vortex, opening its channel to more than 100m wide and extending over 1.5km before rejoining the river.
Currently the damaged embankment has been temporarily built to allow vehicles to pass, but traces of the flood are still evident.

According to local residents, the water flowed from Phu Hoa commune (Dak Lak) to Dinh Ong bridge and then suddenly turned right, tearing apart about 100m of riverbank, rushing straight into the residential area, collapsing many solid farms. In just a few minutes, many areas of agricultural and livestock land disappeared, this place became a 3-4m deep waterbed.
People in Phuoc Thanh village (Tay Hoa commune) are still in shock because for many years they have not seen such a big flood, tearing apart the riverbank and then ferociously flooding into residential areas like that.
Mrs. Le Thi Luan said: "I carried my child and ran but still saw the terrifying flood coming down from behind."

Mr. Luong Cu, a long-time livestock farmer, said his land used to be very far from the riverbank, protected by a layer of many-year-old bamboo. "But in a moment, everything disappeared completely," he said.
Many households lost everything, such as Mr. Phan Van Tuyen's solidly built chicken coop made of split stone in Phuoc Thanh village, which left no trace after the floodwaters overflowed.

However, Mr. Le Van Vi affirmed that the wide stream of water that appeared after the flood was not a new branch of the river, but only a temporary stream created by the vortex when the riverbank structure was broken.
"The flooded area of the commune is due to widespread flooding, not due to water overflowing the riverbank. In fact, the area near the bank is less flooded due to the reduced water flow. This afternoon, the commune will set up an inspection team to assess the damage to livestock households in Phuoc Thanh village to report to higher authorities," he said.

Two communes along Ba River suffered more than 460 billion VND in damage due to floods.
In Phu Hoa 1 commune, on the other side of Dinh Ong bridge, a series of houses were flooded, many structures were damaged, and agricultural production suffered heavy losses. Mr. Dao Chu Tan Dong - Vice Chairman of Phu Hoa 1 commune - said that floodwaters overflowing into residential areas had damaged many riverside farms.
According to statistics, the total damage in Phu Hoa commune is estimated at more than 200 billion VND, and Tay Hoa commune suffered more than 260 billion VND. Currently, the communes are urgently counting and supporting people to repair and reinforce damaged dikes to prevent floods in the coming time.
