"SEA Games Organizing Committee Made a Big Mistake," Thailand's Matichon newspaper headlined, pointing out a serious error that appeared on the official website of the 33rd SEA Games, with a series of errors regarding the national flag.
Specifically, in the women's futsal competition schedule, the 33rd SEA Games organizing committee incorrectly displayed the national flags of both teams, Indonesia and Thailand.
In the information section of the Indonesian team, the organizers used the national flag of Laos. And in the box of their own team, Thailand used the flag of... Vietnam.
This is an unbelievable mistake, because the directly affected team is the Thai team. And this flag mistake is once again related to Vietnam.
In October, host Thailand mistakenly used the Chinese flag in the draw named Vietnam, at the draw ceremony for the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 futsal tournament on the afternoon of October 28.
This mistake created a public storm, forcing the Thai Football Federation to send a delegation to Vietnam to apologize.
It is hard to believe that just over a month later, Thailand has fallen into a similar serious error on the official website of the SEA Games.
"What confused reporters and Thai sports fans was the futsal match schedule between Indonesia and Thailand, because the image in the Thai box was the Vietnamese flag, while the image in Indonesia was the Lao flag.
This mistake made many sports fans extremely angry, criticizing the organizers - who received a huge amount of money but made this big mistake," commented Matichon newspaper.
Over the past few days, the organization of the 33rd SEA Games by host Thailand has been continuously criticized for delays and errors. The most enthusiastic fan club in Thailand, Ultras Thailand, even announced a boycott of the home team because of "incomprehensible regulations".
Thailand has yet to comment on the flag error. In addition, the official website of the 33rd SEA Games still has many problems, and almost only locals can access it smoothly.
