AFP news agency on November 3 quoted information from the Russian Defense Ministry saying that the country's forces had just gained control of another village located near the strategic logistics center of Pokrovsk in the eastern Ukrainian province of Donetsk.
The Russian Defense Ministry said its forces had taken control of the village of Vyshneve. Russia has advanced rapidly in Donetsk in recent weeks and taken control of dozens of villages and towns.
Ukraine did not immediately comment on the information related to the village of Vychneve.
On November 2, Russia said its forces had taken control of the village of Kurakhivka near the industrial town of Kurakhov in Donetsk and the village of Pershotravneve in Kharkiv province.
Control of Pokrovsk, a key Ukrainian logistics hub that connects several key strongholds in Donbass, is one of Russia's main goals in the region.
Pokrovsk is also home to a large coking coal mine that is vital to Ukraine's steel production for the military. Russian troops have advanced just a few kilometers from the town.
According to AFP analysis of data from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW - USA), the Russian army gained control of 478 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory in October. This is a record area that Russia has gained in a month since the beginning of the conflict in 2022.
In another development, the Kyiv City Military Department said on November 3 that Russia continued to attack the Ukrainian capital with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), with several explosions heard throughout the night of November 2.
Debris from the intercepted UAV fell in several districts of the city. In the Holosiivskyi and Desnianskyi districts, debris fell in open areas, causing several fires. Kyiv officials said there were no casualties or significant damage.
Air defense forces shot down all UAVs aimed at Kyiv, according to Serhii Popko, head of the Kyiv City Military Department.
Earlier, Russia sent UAVs to attack Kyiv on November 2, causing a fire in a 16-story residential building and an office building, injuring an 82-year-old woman. Russia has not commented on the matter, but Russia and Ukraine have previously denied all accusations of targeting civilians in the conflict.
