Madam Pang withdraws from the race for president of the Football Association of Thailand.

In early 2024, the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) will hold a congress to find a new president to replace Mr. Somyot Poompanmoung, who is about to complete 2 controversial terms. In the context of Thai fans eagerly waiting for a new manager of the country's football, Madam Pang has been named. And 2 days ago, she also announced her intention to run for election.

Madam Pang will still serve as director of the Thai teams.

However, due to health reasons, her family stopped her. The 57-year-old female general shared: " I want to run for the position of president of the Federation. What I pursue if I win the election is to help the men's team participate in the 2026 World Cup, achieving the same goal as the women's team."

But when I discussed with my family, I was advised to reconsider because I have been taking on too many roles recently. So today I confirm that I only want to continue to be the head of the Thai national team. I still want to be the team manager and I am always ready to appear when needed. I think I will not run for the position of president of the Football Association .

Madam Pang’s message will surely disappoint many fans. But Port FC is very happy because their plan to return to the top does not lose its most important leader, Madam Pang. In her role as club president, Madam Pang has helped Port FC improve, from 8th last season to 3rd in 2022/23.

Madam Pang also confirmed her long-term future at Port by extending her contract as club president for five years, with immediate plans to upgrade and expand the stadium's section C stand.

Thus, Worawee Makudi, former FAT president, and the legend of the Thai national team, Piyapong Pue-on, are still two rare candidates in the race for the most powerful seat in Thai football.
