Madam Pang: "I never interfere in Coach Mano Polking's business"

Speaking to the Thai media, the head of the Thai national team, Nualphan Lamsam (commonly known as Madam Pang), said: "I understand my role with the Thai national team very well. To date, I have never interfered with the professional work of the head coach."

"The selection of players, the arrangement of the lineup, and the substitutions during matches are the prerogative of the head coach. I only do my job, which is to ask the clubs to release players for the national team when the head coach believes that player is necessary for the Thai national team," Madam Pang added.

The reason the billionaire businesswoman, head of the Thai football team, spoke at such length this time is because after coach Mano Polking withdrew from the Thai team yesterday (November 22), some opinions suggested that this withdrawal was influenced by Madam Pang.

The powerful woman of Thai football further revealed: "Over the past period, I have only done what is within my authority and responsibility. I have always tried my best. When the Thai national team is unsuccessful, I am sadder than anyone else."

"My job is to facilitate the team's accommodation, meals, and transportation, ensuring that the team members feel as comfortable as possible. I've also given the Thai national team bonuses on several occasions. Aside from those things, I never interfere with Coach Mano Polking's affairs."

Both former Thailand national team coach Mano Polking and the team's new coach Masatada Ishii (a Japanese national) have a good relationship with Madam Pang.

It was Madam Pang who persuaded coach Mano Polking to take the head coach position of the Thai national team right before the 2020 AFF Cup (held from the end of 2021 to the beginning of 2022), at a time when all the domestic coaches in Thailand were unwilling to work with the national team.

Currently, Madam Pang is the one persuading coach Masatada Ishii to replace coach Mano Polking, after Polking faced opposition from the Thai football community.
