Over 500 households in Tien Giang affected by the Rach Mieu bridge project have handed over their land, the rest will be completed before Lunar New Year so that the project can be completed soon.
The information was announced by the Land Fund Development Center of Tien Giang province on December 25.

Rach Mieu 2 Bridge across the Tien River, connecting Tien Giang and Ben Tre, with an investment capital of more than VND 6,800 billion, started construction in March 2022. While site clearance on the Ben Tre side is almost complete, the Tien Giang side only has about 50% of the assigned area. This causes difficulties for contractors due to lack of construction site.
According to the Tien Giang Province Land Fund Development Center, the low rate of land handover is mainly concentrated in Chau Thanh district with 93/505 households, reaching about 18%. Most people have not received money because the compensation price is low.

After receiving compensation funds for site clearance from the My Thuan Project Management Board, Tien Giang province has now disbursed more than VND1,850 billion. Two months ago, the project was supplemented with VND425 billion from the Hau Giang - Ca Mau Expressway project. Currently, 935/988 households in My Tho City and Chau Thanh District have received money, reaching a rate of nearly 95%.
According to the plan, Tien Giang will clear the land for the construction of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge and the resettlement project for affected households, reaching 95% from now until before Tet. The local government continues to mobilize the remaining households to hand over the land early so that the construction unit can implement the project to ensure progress.

The entire Rach Mieu 2 North Bridge project is 17.6 km long, of which the bridge section is nearly 2 km long, 21.5 m wide, 4 lanes, speed 80 km/h. This is the bridge with the second largest investment cost in the West, after the Dai Ngai Bridge project (8,000 billion VND). When completed, the bridge will share traffic with Rach Mieu Bridge nearly 4 km away, which is often congested.
On February 15, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested the investor to complete Rach Mieu 2 Bridge by October 2025, 6 months earlier than planned.
