About 40 minutes after takeoff, a Korean passenger, sitting in seat 17G, showed signs of poor health and fainted. The flight attendants immediately provided first aid and necessary medical support.
As the passenger's health condition showed no signs of improvement, the flight crew decided to divert the plane and make an emergency landing at Da Nang airport so that the passenger could receive necessary medical assistance from the ground.
Vietnam Airlines representatives at Da Nang airport coordinated with the airport authority, airport medical staff and functional forces to deploy emergency plans and transfer passengers to the hospital.
The passenger's health condition has stabilized after receiving timely first aid.
Flight VN837 continued its journey and landed in Siem Reap at 19:10 the same day.
This is one of many cases in which Vietnam Airlines has adjusted its itinerary to assist passengers in need of medical assistance. Previously, on July 6, flight VN56 from Hanoi to the UK had to divert to land at Kolkata Airport (India); on June 30, flight VN7569 from Hanoi to Nha Trang had to land in Da Nang; and on June 16, flight VN158 from Da Nang to Hanoi landed at Phu Bai Airport (Hue) to provide emergency care to passengers.
