Mercedes E class 2024 new design focuses on entertainment

The new 6th generation luxury sedan has increased size, added technology, and added a plug-in hybrid powertrain option.

The new design of the 2024 E-class is an evolution from its predecessor, incorporating styling elements from the S-class and EQE - notably the new grille (optionally backlit) and gloss black trim. While the LED headlights and taillights are slimmer. The taillights feature a new star-shaped motif, inspired by the company logo.

The 2024 E-Class features optimized drag coefficients for improved aerodynamics, with 17- to 21-inch wheels as options. The new mid-size sedan features hidden door handles and an active radiator grille that can be closed to reduce drag while reducing cooling requirements. The new E-class interior inherits the design from the EQS and S-class. A large screen is placed in the center, supporting the latest MBUX infotainment system. Two smaller screens are placed on either side, for the passenger seat and behind the steering wheel. The new E-class is more software-oriented than hardware-oriented, supporting more entertainment such as the game Angry Birds, the meeting application Webex or Zoom, the Vivaldi browser and the video platform TikTok.

The German automaker offers mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain options, equipped as standard with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Mild-hybrid models start with the rear-wheel-drive E 200, equipped with a 201-horsepower 2.0-liter gasoline engine, combined with a 23-horsepower electric motor. The E 200d has a 194-horsepower 2.0-liter diesel engine, with the option of rear-wheel drive or 4Matic all-wheel drive.

The plug-in hybrid models can travel 120 km on electric power alone, thanks to a 25.4 kWh battery and are assisted by a 2.0-liter gasoline engine. The E 300e has 312 horsepower and the E 400e has 381 horsepower.

According to plan, Mercedes E-class 2024 will be sold from September, price announced closer to the time.

In Vietnam, Mercedes E-class is officially distributed. The luxury mid-size sedan is sold in 3 versions, including E 180 priced at 2.15 billion, E 200 Exclusive at 2.5 billion and E 300 AMG at 3.2 billion. Meanwhile, the rival BMW series 5 has three versions, including 520i Luxury Line, 520i M Sport and 530i M Sport, priced from 2.49-3.28 billion VND. The rival Audi A6 has not announced its selling price.
