Security and antivirus software are essential tools for Windows computers, helping to protect users from viruses, malware, spyware, and other malicious software that can damage the computer and cause data loss. These tools are especially necessary for those who don't have extensive knowledge of technology and security.

Antivirus software is a must-have tool on Windows computers, especially for users who are not tech-savvy, to protect against malware intrusions (Illustrative image: AI).
With previous versions of Windows, users had to manually search for and install antivirus software to protect their computers.
From Windows 8 onwards, Microsoft has integrated Microsoft Defender Antivirus as the default security software for Windows, meaning users don't need to bother choosing and installing additional security tools for their computers.
However, if users wish to use a different security and antivirus software instead of the default tool provided by Microsoft, they can choose one of the products on Microsoft's recommended list.
Accordingly, Microsoft has just announced a list of third-party security software that users should use on Windows. According to Microsoft, these are security programs that are well-compatible with Windows and equipped with safety features suitable for users.
Notably, this list includes two representatives from Vietnam: BKAV Pro (a product of cybersecurity company BKAV) and CyRadar Endpoint Security (a product of technology company CyRadar, headquartered in Hanoi ).
The products on Microsoft's recommended list are all equipped with comprehensive features to protect Windows computers, including antivirus, malware, spyware, ransomware, firewall, and online transaction data protection.
It's important to note that these are just Microsoft's recommended security software programs; users can still choose other security software (free or paid) that they prefer to use, and are not required to choose any of the programs on Microsoft's list.
Here is a list of security companies whose products are recommended by Microsoft for Windows (this is an alphabetical list, not a ranking):
- Arcabit (Poland)
- Avast (Czech Republic)
- AVG (Czech Republic)
- Avira (Germany)
- BKAV (Vietnam)
- CyRadar (Vietnam)
- McAfee (USA)
- Norton (USA)
- Reason Labs (Israel)
Note: When a user installs another security software on Windows, Microsoft Defender Antivirus will be automatically disabled, and Windows will be protected by the newly installed security software.
Microsoft advises users not to install multiple different security and antivirus software programs simultaneously on their computers to avoid conflicts between the software, which can cause Windows to run less stably and cause errors.
