According to the development of the cold air mass, in the evening of November 12, the cold air will affect the mountainous and midland areas of the North, then the plains; then the North Central, Central Central and some places in the South Central.
Due to the influence of cold air, from the night of November 12, the Northern region will turn cold. The lowest temperature at night and in the morning in this region is around 16-19 degrees Celsius; in some places in the highlands, the temperature can drop below 15 degrees Celsius.
In the Hanoi capital area, from tonight, the weather will turn cold with the lowest temperature of 17-19 degrees Celsius and tomorrow night (November 13), the temperature will drop further to 16-17 degrees Celsius.
“The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicts that from tonight until around November 14-15, a cold spell will occur in the Northern region, and there is a possibility of localized severe cold in mountainous areas,” Mr. Huong emphasized.
For the Central region, according to Mr. Huong, due to the impact of cold air combined with the East wind zone, from the night of November 12 to around November 16-17, it is forecasted that there will be widespread heavy rain. According to the forecast, the total rainfall in the area from Thua Thien Hue to Quang Nam , can reach from 300-500mm, in some places over 500mm.
“With such rain forecast, there is a possibility that the North and Central Central regions will experience a flood, focusing on Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang , Quang Nam and Quang Ngai. The river water level this time is likely to reach alert level 2, alert level 3, and at times above alert level 3,” Mr. Huong noted.
In addition, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting also warned that due to the impact of cold air and heavy rain, in the coming days, mountainous areas are likely to experience severe cold, affecting crops and livestock.
In particular, thunderstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind can affect agricultural production, cause trees to fall, damage houses, traffic works and infrastructure.
Particularly in the Central region, heavy rain is likely to cause flooding in urban and coastal areas such as Da Nang, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, and Quang Ngai.
At sea, Mr. Huong forecasts that with strong winds of level 6, then gradually increasing to level 7 (appearing in many areas in the Gulf of Tonkin, the Central Coast, waves 3-4m high, or even higher), it is likely to affect the activities of ships and other activities at sea in coastal areas as well as offshore in the North and the middle of the East Sea (including the Hoang Sa island district area).
