Expanding employment opportunities

Thai Nguyen, as a dynamic growth pole of the Northern Midlands and Mountains region, is facing many new development opportunities when expanding its administrative boundaries. The province has identified the development of an industrial cluster system as the "core" of growth, aiming to build a modern industrial center, create more jobs, promote labor restructuring and improve people's lives.

Tan Duc and Luong Phu - Tan Duc Industrial Cluster (Kha Son Commune) is speeding up construction progress, when completed it will create more jobs for local workers.

According to the plan, the whole province currently has 68 industrial clusters (ICs) with a total area of over 2,743 hectares; of which 40 ICs have been established, with a scale of 1,590 hectares, concentrated in areas with favorable infrastructure such as: Pho Yen, Phu Binh, Phu Luong, Song Cong, Dai Tu... This is an important space for the province to develop industry in a multi-center direction, linking production with regional planning, logistics systems, traffic and urban areas.

In practice, the industrial park model not only helps to effectively exploit land funds, but also creates conditions for small and medium enterprises to invest, form satellite production networks, and support industrial value chains. The strong development of industrial parks in recent times has brought about clear changes in the socio -economy, especially creating more jobs for rural people.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quynh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Kha Son commune, where the two industrial parks Tan Duc and Luong Phu - Tan Duc are being developed, said: The formation of industrial parks has broken the purely agricultural position of the locality, opened up the direction of industrial development, created job opportunities and promoted the development of services and trade.

Currently, the whole province has 16 operating industrial parks, attracting 101 projects, of which 73 projects have gone into stable production and business, creating jobs for about 14,000 workers, with an average occupancy rate of 56%. The main industries in the industrial parks are quite diverse, including: industrial sewing, metallurgy, electronics, mineral processing, construction materials production, packaging, paper...

Many small and medium-sized projects have shown remarkable effectiveness, contributing to the transformation of the rural economic structure, forming satellite industrial production areas for large industrial parks such as Yen Binh, Song Cong, Diem Thuy, etc.

Along with that, the province is promoting the attraction of investment in high-quality industrial infrastructure. Mr. Do Tri Dai, Head of the Yen Binh 3 Industrial Park Project Management Board, said: We focus on synchronous investment in the transportation system, electricity supply, water supply, environmental treatment, towards a green industrial park model so that secondary investors can implement effectively. Currently, the project is accelerating site clearance, striving to start construction on 50 hectares this year.

This reality shows that the completion of technical infrastructure and attracting investment into industrial parks is creating a strong spillover effect, opening up a sustainable development direction for local industry. However, Thai Nguyen still has 28 industrial parks in the planning but not yet established, mainly in areas with complex terrain, limited traffic or no longer suitable for urbanization orientation.

To unlock resources, the Department of Industry and Trade is coordinating with the Department of Finance and localities to invite capable enterprises to invest in infrastructure, while reviewing and proposing to remove from the planning inefficient or inefficient industrial parks.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Cuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said: After the merger, Thai Nguyen has more room to develop industrial parks, expand production space, and create jobs for local workers. The province focuses on completing infrastructure, attracting selective investment, developing industrial parks associated with urban areas and green - clean technology, towards sustainable and modern industry, on the basis of promoting the advantages of regional traffic connectivity.

Industrial development is not only a story of production and investment, but also a process of creating a living environment, jobs and social security. Each industrial cluster that is formed brings thousands of new jobs, leading to the development of services, trade, housing, education and health.

From a strategic perspective, industrial clusters are becoming “satellites” connecting urban and rural areas, between modern production and people’s lives. This is especially significant in the context of Thai Nguyen after the merger having more space for development, while also posing higher requirements on planning management, environmental protection and efficient use of land resources.
