This is a special lesson in the space that the students jokingly call the "touch room" - the STEM classroom that General Secretary To Lam presented to the school on May 14, 2025. After nearly half a year of operation, this room has truly become the "center" of the spirit of learning and innovation at Cau Giay Secondary School. The STEM classroom is part of the "STEM Innovation Petrovietnam" Program implemented by the Vietnam National Energy Industry Group (Petrovietnam).
A learning space of creativity and discovery
The STEM room is equipped with modern computer systems, robot models, experimental tools and synchronous programming software. Each study corner is designed to be open, allowing students to easily move, discuss and work in groups.

“I find this STEM room a very useful place, helping us develop our intelligence and thinking ability. Here, I get to practice many interesting things, learn how to be creative and work in groups,” said Bui Viet Hoang, a student of class 6A5.
Besides, Nguyen Kieu Minh, class 6A11, added: “This classroom is very modern, helping us understand more about scientific applications in life. What impressed me most was the smart arrangement of equipment, convenient for learning and practice.”

Nguyen Le Duc Trong, also from class 6A11, said: “I am very happy that my school has received a new STEM room. The room is fully equipped with modern facilities, helping us practice thinking and creativity. I hope the tables and chairs in the room can be more flexible to facilitate group discussions.”
Those innocent words are enough to show the attraction of the new room - where each lesson becomes a journey of discovery, arousing the passion for science in each student.
From classroom to intellectual playground
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai, Vice Principal of Cau Giay Secondary School, since the STEM lab was put into use, the effectiveness of teaching and learning has changed significantly.

“The classrooms are equipped with modern facilities, helping teachers organize intuitive and lively lessons and promote students’ initiative and creativity. This school year, the school has built a STEM integrated curriculum in natural science subjects, and coordinated with clubs and experts to guide students in practicing, programming and creating robots,” said Ms. Mai.
Not only stopping at studying, from this room, the school has organized many creative activities and large-scale technology playgrounds, most notably the Cau Giay VEX IQ 2025 Robotics Tournament - held for the first time at the school at the end of last September.
On September 26 and 27, 2025, the Cau Giay Secondary School gymnasium became a "technology arena" for 49 teams from 44 classes. The teams participated in two rounds: virtual robot programming and robot alliance competition - simulating the standards of the VEX IQ 2026 world championship in the US.

The competition atmosphere was exciting and thrilling. The tiny robots carried the huge creative minds of the “young” programmers. As a result, team 702A excellently won the virtual robot programming round with 305 points, followed by teams 602C and 804A. In the alliance round, the Sunshine & VIC-A80 alliance won with 98 points, affirming their bravery and impressive team spirit.
“The tournament is not only a competition, but also a meaningful educational activity, helping students develop logical thinking, programming skills, cooperation and creativity,” Ms. Mai added.
After class, the students still lingered, chatting animatedly about the idea of a “garbage sorting” robot or a “robot to assist the visually impaired”. Some even dreamed of participating in international competitions to bring their creative products to the world.

The STEM lab not only provides equipment, but also arouses in students a great desire to learn, create and reach out. From these first experiences, many “young engineers” of Cau Giay Secondary School are gradually forming scientific thinking, teamwork ability and global integration spirit.

As Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai affirmed: “The good news is that when studying in this environment, students are very passionate, excited to explore and boldly come up with many creative ideas. The STEM practical education room has truly opened up a new space, contributing to nurturing the passion for science and innovative thinking for students.”
The “STEM Innovation Petrovietnam” program was implemented by Petrovietnam under the initiative of General Secretary To Lam. The program’s goal is to build 100 STEM rooms in 34 provinces and cities across the country in 100 days with a total budget of 500 billion VND.
This is a large-scale educational project, aiming to upgrade educational infrastructure, support training of young generations with science, technology, engineering and mathematics skills, meeting the requirements of developing high-quality human resources of the country in the new period.
According to the plan, from now until the end of 2025, Petrovietnam will deploy 3 typical STEM practice rooms in each province/city, connecting between localities and internationally, first with the education and training system of Singapore. Previously, since the beginning of 2025, Petrovietnam has built nearly 10 STEM practice rooms, which have been recognized and highly appreciated by the Ministry of Education and Training, schools and teachers for their practicality and effectiveness.
The launch of the Petrovietnam STEM Innovation Program took place right after the Politburo issued Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training development, reflecting Petrovietnam's initiative and responsibility in implementing social security activities, while concretizing the Prime Minister's orientation of considering education as the top national policy, deciding the future of the nation.
