On July 9, Vietnamese Ambassador to Mozambique Tran Thi Thu Thin paid a courtesy visit to Mozambique Prime Minister Maria Benvinda Delfina Levi at the Prime Minister's Office.
During the meeting, Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin respectfully conveyed the congratulations of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on the occasion of Ms. Maria Benvinda Delfina Levi's assumption of the position of Prime Minister, and the congratulations of the Government and people of Vietnam to the Government and people of Mozambique on the occasion of the solemn celebration of the 50th anniversary of their Independence Day (June 25, 2025).
Congratulating the Mozambican Government on its significant efforts and achievements in the first six months under the leadership of President Daniel Chapo, Prime Minister Maria Denvida Delfina Levi, and the new cabinet, particularly in promoting administrative reforms and stimulating economic recovery and growth, the Ambassador expressed confidence that these initial achievements lay a solid foundation for the comprehensive and sustainable development of Mozambique in the future.
The Ambassador affirmed that, as a good friend and long-standing, close partner of Mozambique, Vietnam is pleased to witness the significant socio-economic progress that Mozambique has achieved recently and looks forward to close cooperation with Mozambique in the future.
On this occasion, the Ambassador briefed Prime Minister Maria Denvida Delfina Levi on Vietnam's outstanding socio-economic development in recent times, including the policy of streamlining and reorganizing the administrative apparatus, reorganizing administrative units at all levels, and building a two-tiered local government model.
Expressing her honor at being entrusted by the Party and State of Vietnam with the important responsibility of being the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Mozambique at this crucial time, when the two countries are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (June 25, 1975 - June 25, 2025), Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin affirmed that she will make every effort to contribute to promoting the good multifaceted friendship between the two countries.
The Ambassador was pleased to inform the Prime Minister about the achievements in bilateral relations over the past half-century, and proposed several key priorities for future bilateral relations, such as continuing to strengthen the political and diplomatic foundation through regular high-level visits and contacts, bilateral cooperation mechanisms such as the Intergovernmental Committee and political consultations; prioritizing economic and trade cooperation through concrete measures such as exchanges of business delegations and local authorities, and promoting trade and investment promotion initiatives, introducing the potential, policies, and markets of each side; and strengthening cooperation in agriculture, education and training, health, telecommunications and information technology, defense and security…

During the meeting, Prime Minister Maria Denvida Delfina Levi welcomed Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin to her new post in Mozambique, affirming that the Government and relevant agencies of Mozambique will cooperate closely to support the Ambassador in fulfilling her assigned duties. She expressed confidence that, with her extensive experience, the Ambassador will make a positive contribution to maintaining and further promoting the traditional friendship and good cooperation between the two countries in the future.
Highly appreciating the concrete and positive results of the solidarity, friendship, and cooperation between Vietnam and Mozambique in recent times, Prime Minister Maria Denvida Delfina Levi stated that the two countries share views and visions on many issues, have similar geographical, economic, and social characteristics, and have the potential to complement each other.
The Prime Minister affirmed that Mozambique attaches importance to its relationship with Vietnam and wishes to strengthen cooperation in traditional areas including health, education, agriculture, and new areas such as mining, energy, telecommunications, digital transformation, aquaculture, etc.
Fully agreeing with the Ambassador's proposals and recommendations, Prime Minister Maria Denvida Delfina Levi also assigned relevant agencies and ministries to actively coordinate with the Vietnamese Embassy in Mozambique to effectively implement cooperation activities in the coming time.

On the same day, Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin had a courtesy visit and worked with Mozambican Defense Minister Cristóvão Artur Chume.
At the meeting, Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin affirmed that defense cooperation between the two countries in recent times has had positive results and is an important area of cooperation that Vietnam wishes to promote in its relations with Mozambique in the coming time.
The Ambassador proposed to Minister Cristóvão Artur Chume several specific directions for cooperation, such as strengthening exchanges of delegations at all levels, especially high-level delegations of the two countries' defense forces; promoting the sharing of information and experience in areas of mutual interest and strength such as mine clearance, post-war remediation, disaster response, application of technology and information technology in defense operations, and personnel training; and researching and implementing defense-related economic and industrial activities in fields such as manufacturing, mining, construction, agriculture, and forestry.

Minister Cristóvão Artur Chume welcomed the Ambassador's proposals and suggestions, and affirmed the commitment of the Mozambican Ministry of Defence to cooperate with the Embassy to further deepen Vietnam-Mozambique defense cooperation in the future.
