Recently, the Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry awarded a certificate of commendation to Le Duc Thang, a second-year student in the Mechanical Engineering Technology department, for his act of finding lost property and returning it to its owner. Along with the certificate, he received a reward of 2 million VND from the university.
Earlier, at the end of February, after the third class, Thang went down to the school library to study. As he was coming down the stairs, Thang saw 500,000 VND banknotes scattered everywhere.

According to Thang, it's possible that the tile floor was the same shade of blue as the 500,000 VND banknote, so even though there were quite a few people passing by at the time, no one saw it.
Without a second thought, Thang picked up the 500,000 dong bills scattered on the floor and handed them straight to the office clerk, asking her to return them to the owner. He left immediately, without even mentioning his name.
That evening, Thang posted information on the school's student page announcing that he had found a large sum of money and asked anyone who lost it to contact the school library to retrieve it.
When Thang posted information about finding the owner of the lost money, many friends commented, "You found lost money, look for a place to hide it," "You didn't keep it but spent it," "You should have gone for bubble tea," "You're a naive newcomer who hasn't experienced life yet"...
However, Thang knew his friends were just joking; everyone understood how much someone who had lost money would want it back, especially a large sum.
According to information from the Administrative and Organizational Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, the department is currently holding 10 million VND that student Le Duc Thang found. The university has issued a notice to find the owner, but more than a month has passed and no one has contacted them to claim the money.
