Raising awareness of food safety

Implementing the Food Safety Action Month 2025 (from April 15 to May 15), from April 16, the Nha Trang City Food Safety Interdisciplinary Inspection Team inspected a number of food service establishments in the city. Through the inspection, most establishments were aware of ensuring food safety.

Awareness of facility owners is raised

At Tuan's VietNamese Cuisine Restaurant and Thanh Suong Seafood Restaurant (Tran Phu Street), the city's interdisciplinary food safety inspection team inspected the business registration certificate; food purchase and sale contracts and records, documents, and invoices related to the supplier, quality, origin of food, food additives, food processing aids, etc. used at the facility; certificate of food safety eligibility; certificate of knowledge training of the owner and employees involved in food processing; periodic health examination records. At the same time, the team inspected the implementation of the 3-step food inspection regime, storage and destruction of food samples according to regulations; food processing area; dining area; equipment, tools for processing, storing, and preserving food, etc.

Through inspection, both establishments provided sufficient legal documents; the kitchen was arranged to ensure no cross-contamination between unprocessed and pre-processed food; there were enough tools to collect and contain garbage and waste to ensure hygiene; the drains in the kitchen area were clear, not stagnant and covered; food and food ingredients had clear origins. Both establishments implemented the 3-step food inspection regulations and kept food samples according to the instructions of the Ministry of Health . The inspection team requested that the two establishments continue to strictly implement food safety regulations, especially during the upcoming April 30 and May 1 holidays.

Mr. Tran Anh Tuan - owner of Tuan's VietNamese Cuisine Restaurant said: "With more than 10 years of experience in the food and beverage industry, we know that food quality and reputation play a very important role in retaining customers. Therefore, the foods we use for processing are all purchased from reputable establishments with clear origins. With the guidance of the authorities, we keep food samples and keep records for verification; at the same time, operate the facility in accordance with food safety regulations." Ms. Dang Thi Thanh Suong - owner of Thanh Suong Seafood Restaurant shared: “90% of the restaurant's processed food is raw seafood, so food safety is always the top priority of the establishment. When there are instructions from state agencies on food safety, we always comply. To be transparent in business, the restaurant clearly lists the prices of all seafood at the restaurant. At the same time, we also regularly update on the restaurant's Fanpage so that customers know and choose.”

No violations found

In accordance with the plan of the Central Government and the Provincial People's Committee, in early April, the People's Committee of Nha Trang City issued Plan No. 2561 on implementing the Month of Action for Food Safety in 2025 in the city. As soon as the plan was issued, the City Health Department coordinated with relevant agencies and units to strengthen communication work, warn of risks of food safety loss; provide knowledge on ensuring food safety in food production, business and consumption; measures for processing and preserving food to ensure food safety... to raise awareness and change the behavior of consumers and food suppliers in ensuring food safety and hygiene. Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Dai - Deputy Head of the Nha Trang City Health Department, Head of the City's interdisciplinary inspection team on food safety. Nha Trang said: “Nha Trang has a high number of domestic and foreign visitors coming to visit, relax, and use food and beverage services during the holidays. Therefore, along with propaganda, from April 16, we will launch a campaign to inspect food safety assurance for food and beverage service establishments and street food in the city; resolutely handle and suspend operations for establishments that do not ensure food safety conditions.”

From the launch date to April 23, the Nha Trang City Food Safety Interdisciplinary Inspection Team inspected 16 food service establishments. Through the inspection, most of the establishments ensured food safety and hygiene conditions such as: Having a business registration certificate, a certificate of food safety eligibility, a certificate of training in food safety knowledge, a periodic health check-up certificate for the owner and those directly involved in food processing; contracts, invoices, documents related to the origin of food ingredients; relatively guaranteed physical facilities. Some establishments still lacked health check-ups and some other documents, the inspection team reminded and propagated the establishments to pay attention and correct them as soon as possible. At the time of inspection, no violating establishments were handled.

This year’s Food Safety Action Month has the theme “Ensuring Food Safety, with a focus on food safety in collective kitchens, catering services and street food”. According to the authorities, thanks to the promotion of communication and supervision, the awareness of food safety among business owners, food processors and people in Nha Trang City in particular and the province in general has gradually improved.
