April 1, 1975: Liberating Phu Yen, opening the final strategic battle

NDO - On April 1, 1975, our army and people launched a swift offensive, completely liberating Tuy Hoa town and the entire Phu Yen province.

From early morning, the main units, in coordination with local troops, simultaneously attacked key targets in Tuy Hoa such as the airport, the Da Rang bridge, and the Police Headquarters, causing the enemy to quickly disintegrate. By noon the same day, Phu Yen province was completely free of enemy forces.

That same afternoon, the Politburo sent an urgent telegram clearly stating: "From this moment on, the final strategic decisive battle of our army and people has begun."
