Following the success of the two stages in Luang Prabang, Laos and Hanoi, Vietnam, the Viettel Marathon Angkor Wat, Cambodia is expected to welcome 9,000 athletes from many countries and territories around the world. The athletics teams of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia have all confirmed their athletes to compete.
In particular, attention was focused on Nguyen Thi Oanh. The SEA Games champion in the 5,000m, 3,000m and 1,500m distances, when switching to the marathon format, recently broke the national record with a time of 2 hours 39 minutes 49 seconds.

Viettel Marathon is the first international race with 3 stages held in 3 different countries in Southeast Asia. The Laos stage takes place on November 3, the Vietnam stage takes place on December 1. The final stage in Cambodia takes place on December 22. Viettel Marathon is also the race with the highest prize fund, up to 150,000 USD with many diverse and attractive prize categories.
In addition to the advanced level, Viettel Marathon 2024 Angkor Wat, Cambodia is receiving attention and welcome from the running community in Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and internationally. The race is expected to welcome 9,000 athletes to run and explore the famous relic complex that has been classified as a world heritage by UNESCO.
An interesting point to encourage the running club community is that the Top 5 highest ranked clubs will share a total prize fund of 200 million for the Vietnam leg, 90 million for the Cambodia leg and 40 million for the remaining leg in Laos applied in the Viettel Marathon 2024 system. In particular, the top 5 clubs with the largest total distance of all members for the 3 participating legs will win the Viettel Marathon Diamond Club award with a prize fund of up to 250 million, accordingly the first prize club will receive 100 million in cash.
The first stage took place in Luang Prabang, Laos and was welcomed and supported by local people and international athletes. With about 5,000 athletes participating in 4 distances of marathon (42.195km), half marathon (21.0975km), 10km and 5km, Viettel Marathon Luang Prabang Unitel 2024 is the first road race in Luang Prabang with a full marathon distance and the largest number of participants ever.
Viettel Marathon 2024 continues to be heated up in the Hanoi, Vietnam leg taking place on December 1, 2024. More than 10,000 participants, including representatives of the Cambodian Embassy, representatives of the Lao Embassy, along with many Lao and Cambodian students studying in Vietnam and athletes from 24 countries and territories around the world, have shown that Viettel Marathon has gone beyond a normal sporting event, becoming a bridge connecting and strengthening friendship between regional countries and international friends.
