This player is the reigning Olympic women's singles champion and currently ranked 2nd in the world. However, at the last minute, Chen Yu Fei withdrew from the 2024 Indonesia Masters, leaving Nguyen Thuy Linh to face a much weaker opponent, Gao Fang Jie (China, ranked 32nd in the world).

Although ranked 10 places lower than Nguyen Thuy Linh in the world rankings, 25-year-old Gao Fang Jie is a formidable opponent, having previously reached world number 13. Therefore, Nguyen Thuy Linh must be extremely focused and in good form. This is also an opportunity for Vietnam's number one player to secure her first victory of 2024 and accumulate more points on the rankings.
